More MP3s for Diana-chan
Nov. 9th, 2004 12:31 amSince you didn't like Nowhere (*glares* how could anyone not like?!), I'm sending you another mp3. This time it's an instrumental -- the first track of the 2nd Madlax OST. It's really a beautiful song... I've found that songs composed and mixed by Yuki Kajiura are really beautiful...
Her CD that's being released by Pioneer is really...um... I guess you'd call it New Age? It's a bit like Enya in my mind only a little more defined. They're very Celtic-influenced. It's in English but the songs were composed by Yuki Kajiura. I don't know if she wrote the lyrics though... They're all sung by various singers -- opera and musical singers mostly from the US. I know she did some of these songs off of Fiction for Noir and .hack//sign (did I write that right?) but I only liked a couple so I'm uploading only those...
First off, We Are One: http://homepages.nyu.edu/~smc449/01%20-%20we%20are%20one.mp3
And the Fiction songs:
My favorite, Fake Wings: http://homepages.nyu.edu/~smc449/FICTION%2003%20YUKI%20KAJIURA%20-%20fake%20wings.mp3
Vanity: http://homepages.nyu.edu/~smc449/FICTION%2005%20YUKI%20KAJIURA%20-%20vanity.mp3
Cynical World: http://homepages.nyu.edu/~smc449/FICTION%2002%20YUKI%20KAJIURA%20-%20cynical%20world.mp3
Key of the Twilight: http://homepages.nyu.edu/~smc449/FICTION%2001%20YUKI%20KAJIURA%20-%20key%20of%20the%20twilight.mp3
I had to take down the Overlap PV to put up these MP3s so if you haven't d/l it yet, please tell me and I'll put it back up. These are rather big files but they're all pretty good songs... Key of Twilight and Cynical World are a bit odd so if were to prioritize, I would pick Fake Wings and Vanity.
They're good songs, really.
The lyrics to Vanity, to give you an idea of the songs:
Sung by Emily Bindiger
enter the scenery of love
lovers are in pain
they blame and pick on each other
you play melodies of love
forgotten phrases
tender and sweet
come a little bit closer
don't stay in the shadows my boy
(la la la la la la la)
the melody's fading.....
now or never, love will go
I'll be there by your side
share your fears in the silent redemption
touch my lips, hold me tight
live in vanity for a while
as winter melts in the sun
boys will be out running and reaching for the light
oh mother please find me in that place
before the memories tear us into pieces
clinging to affection, we somehow do learn to live
(la la la la la la la)
in endless motion
never coming back, love will go
you'll be there by my side
you may never know my devotion
feel my breath in the quiet night
live in vanity for ever
won't you feel my gentle emotion
let us live in peace with conviction
if you're here please hold me.....

Wow, that's a bit depressive...
But really, she's a brilliant composer. The lyrics aren't really the draw with her.
Oh, Fake Wings is from .hack//SIGN...
For the heck of it, here the lyrics to that (it's short):
Shine bright morning light
Now in the air the spring is coming
Sweet blowing wind
Singing down the hills and valleys
Keep your eyes on me
Now we're on the edge of hell
Dear my love, sweet morning light
Wait for me, you've gone much farther, too far
**
I especially loved the middle part with the bells, guitar and violin mesh together. It's soft but at the same time sweet with a twinge of sadness. I like it. *shrugs* I'm in a mood right now.
Anyway, Diana go download (and anyone else, because these are really good). As a review describes her "a successful marriage of old-world choral and classical methods to new-wave pop arrangements. She favors dense, heavily-layered vocals, and makes almost constant use of string arrangements, all laid over a thick, pounding bassline and a thrumming, usually electronic drumbeat. The effect is a surprisingly pleasing one, yielding fascinating, baroque-sounding songs that also sport a slightly acidic pop edge."
Man, I'm really loving Vanity right now... I hope the links work... *fingers crossed*
As a random note, I really regret not bringing a blow dryer. It's so inconvenient to wash your hair at a time where it can air dry because I have class in the morning (where it's frigid cold) and during the afternoons (still cold) and I don't want to get sick with wet hair in the cold air...But I really wish I could air dry my hair... I hate blow dryers.
