And the Insanity Continues...
Dec. 19th, 2004 02:34 amI've gotten into a golf manga.
*laughs* I knew it had to happen someday.
I'm dying from WTE though... It looks like my wish to have lunch tomorrow might not come true. Not unless I only have about eight hours of sleep (yes, horrible, I know).
edit x1: Ah, Lancelot is so kakoii! And suitably cold. :) I wish I could pair him and Gawain up but they have a three year difference and Gawain is only the 3rd grade so I'll have to wait a long time before they can do anything... Even Lancelot who's in the 6th grade... There has to be at least another four-five years before Gawain can do anything... In that time, Lancelot would be old enough but they'd be a high schooler-junior high schooler pairing and that makes me wince a little. A lot actually. I don't do minors very very. Especially if there's an age gap of over two years. Naruto and Sasuke are hard for me at 12 years old but since they're both 12, it makes it easier. Sasuke/Kakashi is so wrong on so many levels but mainly for the age thing.
But what is with the King Arthur references? Lancelot? Gawain? I wonder if that means anything... Gawain was the most honorable, honest and courteous, so far, just like Gawain from Rising Impact. But Gawain from King Arthur thought of himself as failure when the fear of death consumed him. That's when he strayed from his goals. Will Gawain from the manga be the same when he strays from his goals of being the best flyer? Will he go through some terrible character angst?
God, I hope so. I love angst and character turmoil makes for such a good story...
But with Lancelot... God, that's a whacked up guy... I mean I can see the whole strength and skill part in Lancelot of the manga but the rest of it? Lancelot was supposed to be really pious and because of it he was filled with grief and guilt about not loving his God over Guinevere. Not to mention the whole betraying his King with his wife thing... And how would the whole vow of celibacy come into this? *makes a face* Maybe Lancelot will only be loosly based on his namesake. Hopefully. But it would be fun to see if the mangaka can make it work, if only in parts.
edit x2: Okay, I can't deny it any longer... That damn polo tee of Gawain's with the two lions and shield, typical of the middle ages and Lancelot's Maiden Land (how blatant is that?!) is just too glaring. What is the mangaka thinking?
*shakes head*
Gawain's third grade simplicity is getting to me. But I wanna see him grow as a golfer so I'll tough it out and hope to see lost of good Lancelot moments (and if I was truthful, future hints of Gawain/Lancelot) where he isn't making Gawain look like a total idiot. Which is basically all the time. Oh well.
