What shall I start off with? Today was a pretty crappy day all around. A lot of odd things happened to me.
Okay first, would have to be Chem lecture. But even before it, there was me, Xiao and Britney. So me and Britney are both in Chem together so naturally we leave together and walk together to class. Before it was all good since it was me, Britney and Steph and we all were going to Chem. This semester Xiao has TR 8 AM classes so she decides to come walk with me. But what am I supposed to do? I walk with Britney since Steph dropped Chem. So we walk together. She gets to my room five minutes earlier than when me and Brit would usually leave, we walk together, it was basically me talking with Britney for the first half and then it was me and Xiao together for the last half. That sucked. I tried to mediate and talk about subjects that we're both into but really, what can we say? And like Xiao wanted to walk her own way to campus but me and Brit usually go a different way because we're in Cantor and it's off to the side a bit. So we ended up having to backtrack because we had gone too far. That was fun.
I fell asleep in Chem lecture. Again. For 15 minutes. That was fun too.
At AR, a fourth grader told me off. And then the teacher reprimanded me that I couldn't let them say things like that to me. I mean it wasn't that bad - I had told her to get her coat and she said she didn't care. I really didn't see anything in it. I mean if she decides to be a bitch and not conform for society, at least in a place where public facades are important, that's her problem. In my eyes, if continues in this way, she'll just get ostracized from society and then she'll be sorry. It's the natural way of life.
And then I had recess duty again. *dies* There was this one girl who kept on antagonizing this other boy and she was always jumping on him, pulling on him, screaming at him over and over again and she looked like she was about ready to snap and kill the other kid. It wasn't funny at all -- she looked like the type to drop that kid, kick him until he doesn't move and then cut off his head to make sure he never gets back up again. So I spent most of my recess duty trying to avert a major fight. The rest of the time, I was watching the slide and making sure people didn't climb up on it. To spite me, those bastards started jumping off of the damn thing. Damn brats.
World Cultures: Russia. I fell asleep in that class too. I was taking notes and you can clearly see I wasn't in my right mind because those notes don't make sense at all. I think I was dreaming I was in lecture so I think I might have taken some notes off of my dream lecture... And then you have the squigglies that don't mean a damn thing because I fell asleep right in the middle of a sentence.
That wasn't even the worst thing. Okay, like yesterday my audio recorder's batteries died on me and I hadn't gotten a chance to replace them. So I was just taking notes today and the very first thing Cohen talks about how he noticed some of us were taping him and how we're not allowed to tape him at all. "It's rude, not to mention it's illegal." He's made me feel like the worst kinda of ass in the world. I was seriously crushed. Somehow I know it was me since I sit in the aisle of the third row and he went up the rows a bit last lecture. :( I wanted to cry.
But thank god I didn't have it out with me. I would have felt like such an idiot being the one to discreetly put it away...
Next, since I skipped lunch, I decided to go over to Kimmel to get a bite to eat. While I was eating, these two Asian girls asks to ask me a few questions. Being the nice person, I am, I just assumed it was like a quick survey and said okay. Then they sat down and proceeded to try to convert me. Apparently, they were some sort of Korean Christian group at NYU and they spent like ten minutes attacking my views and trying to convince me to accept God in my life. They even read me this pamphlet thing about the Four Laws of God or something like that. They sat there while I was eating and started reading this thing to me. They obviously knew I was not Christian and I was too nice to tell them to leave me the fuck alone so I suffered through it. :(
Next, Muni's birthday party. So. Xiao didn't go. Janet didn't even know about it ten minutes before I was gonna go and Steph had a lecture. So it was me and Britney. We go over to Spice (Thai restaurant on 10th and University Place) and we get there and there's like two other people there. We were taken down into the basement and there were like two big tables together and these tiny ottoman tables that were so low. I felt so sorry for the people who got there late since they had sit there and eat on their knees since the tables weren't high enough to eat from.
Okay, first thing, we were never a part of the "main" big clique of our floor. Michelle was but Michelle left us to join them in one of "their" rooms. So basically we were sitting off on the main table (since we got there early, we got okay seats) but basically we were kinda by ourselves. We had Richard with us and that's a whole different story.
Anyway, Michelle get there with the rest of her friends and basically ignored us. Britney tried to get eye contact to say hi but she never even looked our way. I was sitting next to her and she was facing the other way the entire meal. We, us being the roommate/suitemates of her, don't understand Michelle at all.
Anyway, Muni gets there kinda late and Richard was complaining about the prices all night long (grrr!) and the music was so damn loud that we couldn't really talk at all... And we were kinda far apart so that didn't help things. It was mostly awkward. Really awkward.
Anyway, what really saved things was Muni stories about how he got drunk last weekend and totally wronged a girl (not that way). Basically what happened was that he and his friends were at this magazine premier in Brooklyn and basically it was like an open bar. He of course he was guzzling the stuff like water. He gets piss-assed drunk and when a friend who's not really his friend any more but can't take the hint, invites him to another party and he says no, and leaves. He goes on the J train (he's not really sure since he can't really remember it all that well) and ends up at this station somewhere in Brooklyn. He doesn't know where he is and he's totally drunk -- can't see straight, spinning, everything. So he meets up with these Asian girls who had just come from a party like he had come from and he's like "I'm totally drunk, I don't know where I am or how to get home, can you help me?" And they were like, "so where do you live?" And he's like "Manhattan-ish?" So they give him directions but he's not really hearing it since he was getting ready to vomit. And he tells the girls this. They tell him to not to throw up on them and he tries to make it to the trash can but didn't quite get it there and ends up getting vomit all on his shoes and stuff. Nice. So this girl decides to help Muni get home and they get on the train to Manhattan together. And Muni falls asleep on the girl's shoulder. (Awww!) So eventually the girl wakes him up and tells him that they have to get off the train. They get into a cab and from that point on, Muni doesn't really remember what happen. He suspects they got to Third North and he just kinda mumbles "thanks" and throws some money at her and stumbles into the building. How terrible! He's not sure but he thinks that's what happened.
But really, that wasn't the high story of the night. It was of this Zachary kid (real name apparently). Okay, so it's 4 AM and he's on RA duty. The guards page him and he calls down but they don't answer him. They keep on beeping him and he keeps on calling down to see what the hell the matter was (since it was 4 AM) but they never answer. Finally he crawls out of bed and goes down stairs and he's really disoriented at this point. He talks to the guard and they tell him that there was a medical emergency and that this kid needed to go to the hospital.
He sees the kid and he goes over to him and asks him what the matter was. The kid mumbles a lot, trying to find something to say to answer him and finally manages a "soap in my eye." Muni could see that his eye was red where the kid had been rubbing it.
So Muni asks the kid "did you wash it out?" and the kid say he did. And Muni asks if he feels better and the kid was like "yeah."
And since it was 4 AM in the morning, Muni was like "so you don't need to go to the hospital then." But the kid was like "I'd rather go to the hospital." At this point, Muni was still really confused about everything and the only thing he knew was that he didn't want to go with this kid to the hospital at 4 AM in the morning.
But the guards tell him that they called Public Safety and that they had to go to the hospital now. So they're in the van going and Muni is still trying to get what happened out of the kid.
The kid couldn't really make up a good excuse and was making this gesture where he had his arm outreached, grabbing at something he said "uh, um, detergent, soap in my eye." Muni really didn't understand the whole grabbing gesture and was confused as hell but he was sure the kid was lying to him.
During the ride to the hospital, the kid's mother calls him. She's like freaking out saying how she was gonna come down from Westchester and go to the hospital and the kid's freaking out too, screaming at his mother not to come.
They get to the hospital and the kid's getting examined at Triage. He keeps looking at Muni, trying to make sure he was out of earshot and Muni takes a hint and tells them that he was gonna go out to make some phone calls.
So he's out in the hallway calling every person he knows, his West Coast friends and everything and he starts to bitch about this brat and how he was at the hospital at 4 AM in the morning. Eventually he calls his boss and his boss was like, "the kid was probably giving a blow job and he was shot in the eye with semen for the first time and freaked out." And then everything clicks in Muni's mind -- why the guy was lying, the way he insisted on going to the hospital, the grabbing gesture (*wink wink*), why he didn't want his mother there...
To this, Greg goes, "Amateur" and we all crack up. For those who don't remember, Greg was the guy having hot gay sex on our floor during Welcome Week who raced out practically naked looking for a condom. And he's totally hot. What a waste but damn. He's like totally ripped -- eye candy. Yummy.
But Muni's story was bloody brilliant. And it was true. And apparently this Zachary hangs out on our floor a lot -- friends with Greg *nudge nudge*. He's from the 6th Floor which kinda scares me a bit since I came from the 6th Floor. Apparently he wears his hair in spikes, wears tight clothing and a lot eyeliner. Okay. I might have seen him around but they seriously all look the same to me after a while.
So now I'm back. Me and Brit just kinda left at 9:15 but everybody else there was getting ready to get drunk tonight. Hell, they were half way there. Spice totally didn't card. File that away for future reference. But even if they did, it's not like it would have mattered at all... I mean they all have fake IDs anyway...
Okay. That's the day. Now onto some bad news. 2nd Street, the dorm we were trying to get into is being converted into singles. Completely. Right. We're screwed.
So basically me, Xiao, Britney and Steph have this little foursome going on. We're trying to get a two bedroom suite for four people but it's like impossible to find one in an okay place. Sophomores basically get screwed in housing. NYU wants to drive us away, I tell you. The two places we could end up is either Lafayette or Water Street. They both suck ass.
Lafayette is in Chinatown and it's old, it has bugs and the residents basically get drunk every single night. And weekend parties that are really loud. Sometimes not confined on the weekends. It's the basic consensus that living at Lafayette sucks really badly. A girl was shot walking back to it like at 6 PM last week. We don't want to die!
Water Street is a fairly new building -- the problem is that it's in the Financial District. Which means it's a good 35 minutes away from campus. We can't walk that far. We can't go back in between classes. Also the bussing would be way crowded. We'd have to wake up at like 6:00 AM to get to 8 PM class. Probably even earlier. We're so fucked if we end up there.
And there's no dining hall. We'd starve! Lafayette doesn't have one either but it's in Chinatown and food's cheap there and is definitely plentiful. Water Street also has no high speed internet or cable hook up. If we want it, we'd have to pay for it out of our own pockets.
The other places that are remotely close to campus are mainly freshmen and seniors. Or it's like Alumni and it's all singles. Singles just mean very expensive. It'll be like $15,000 a year. That's $5,000 more than what we're playing now. The mainly freshman/senior dorms are University Hall and Pallidium. Pallidium has brown water and UHall has periodic hot water loss. The other dorms in the area are mainly juniors and seniors and with all four of us being Sophomores next year, we're so gonna get screwed in the housing lottery.
Basically, we're fucked. Really fucked. Absolutely completely fucked.
I think it's gonna be like Water Street or something like that...
There was Broome Street but it's studio style with like 8 people so we'd be stuck with like four other people in one big room. We'd kill each other in that. *dies* We've been talking about this for over a month and we're still nowhere resolved at all... Housing is such a big pain and we have to have it figured out by the end of this month...
Oh, and Broome Street also has five bedroom suites with 11 people. Nice.
I don't know how we're gonna do this. We're gonna have to make a billion pro and con charts to figure out which sucks the least...
edit x1: I realized I never said this but you might have guessed. Muni is our RA and it was his birthday surprise party tonight. He's 23.
And some good news! We have hot water and I am going to take a long shower. :)
