School Stuff
Aug. 1st, 2005 04:47 pmI coerced my sister into coming with me to New York when I go back. ^^ OSU doesn't start until mid-September so she'll be there for about 10 days... Nice! Now I have to find ways to sneak her into my dorm.
We're gonna do the tourist thing (and probably spend a ton of money doing so) and hopefully neither of us will die from the heat. It's gonna get nasty that first week there, no doubts about it. But at least I have free labor for when I have to move all my stuff from storage all the way from midtown down to the financial district. Of course, that was my whole intention all along. *veg*
Well, that and spending some quality time with my little sister before we're both off to college and it won't be until Christmas that we'll see each other... With the way our breaks worked out, we'll have exactly one week together during Christmas before she has to go back to start her Winter term... *makes a face* Trimesters suck. Why can't they use simple semesters just like everyone else?
Back on the subject of dorms -- I finally got my housing assignment to show up on Albert. Sure, I knew the dorm and the room since we chose the room in that dorm but it's nice to have official confirmation of it somewhere accessible. As I had thought, me and Xiao are in the B room... That's only important since there's one room that has a private bathroom connected to their room and the other room gets their own bathroom outside but... It's not a big deal but I'd still want it. It'll definitely be more private...
Oh! I found out that AJ managed to get into Water Street! Him and his roommate David are now in room 910. We're in 914 so we're on the same floor! Four rooms apart! Nice, huh? Too bad Janet didn't manage to get into Water though... She's lucky -- she's in Palladium near Union Square so she's definitely a lot closer... It's a good thing we're both in the same Chem lab sections and the same Bio recitations -- I'd probably never see her otherwise... We're not as conveniently down the hall from each other now where we could pop over to the other person's room any time of day... :(
Today, I finally sent in my tuition for the fall semester. I always hate doing it since I hate worrying about the check being lost in the mail, despite the fact that I'm having it certified. It just feels weird sending several thousand dollars in an envelope to the other side of the U.S...
The other thing that happened today is that I'm feeling very confident that I'm probably going to do a semester abroad in London. I was pretty sure I wanted to do it but I'm almost at the applying stage now. It's almost scary! I knew NYU made it extremely easy to go abroad but I didn't know HOW easy. It's an online application of four parts that would probably take me half an hour to complete. It's almost a joke!
But I think I should still talk to my advisor about this first. I need more info, no matter what and it'll be good. But Sherry! In London! ^^
Last notes -- today is August 1st and Kimeru's DVD is due to be released in two days! Oh, how I want it now...
edit x1: I really think I should take off the comm nyuhousing... There are too many freshmen posting their housing assignments and it's a bit annoying. Last year I cared since I was one of those annoying freshmen but this year... But then I wonder about maybe I'll be missing something, like my neighbors on the 9th floor in Water... I don't know... I guess I can deal... :\
