*groans* I'm so tired... I just got back from being out all day. We did Ellis Island and the Statue of Liberty, then the NY Library, Bookoff and the Empire State Building. And to round that all off, Macy's.

My feet feel like they're about ready to fall off...

But I bring back a treasure! Riyu Yamakami's "Run, Run, Prince!" from Bookoff.

This was my first visit to Bookoff and I can tell you right now, it's amazing! I'm definitely going back again! I saw all the manga and I saw all the prices (well, they are used books but still in very good condition) and I just went *_*

I had to stop myself from blowing a huge amount of money, especially when I discovered the section with the BexBoy comics... I was so ready to get another Riyu Yamakami work and another one by a mangaka that I had never heard of before. The artwork was very pretty and even though I can't read Japanese, I still wanted it have it. Someday though, I'm going to be able to read this book that I bought today and understand what it's saying. It's my goal for Japanese -- to be able to read and understand.

Bookoff had so many volumes of manga and it just made me and Diana want to gobble up an entire series just for the heck of it. I actually got their member's card. It was only $1 so I didn't see a reason not to. You get $2.50 off when you buy $50 worth of stuff... I mean, it's not really going to save any money in the long run but still, if I end up actually buying a ton of stuff there (which I might -- I might not be able to read them myself yet, but I can always scan them or salivate over the pretty pictures), it might be useful.

So yeah, the day's done and we've actually accomplished something today. Tomorrow is just more walking...Central Park and the Central Park Zoo and the American Museum of Natural History. I wish we could hit MoMA and the Met too but a zoo and three museums don't work in one day. As it is, I don't know if we'll get through Central Park... Sunday is looking to be a "get books" and Chinatown shopping day.

I'm kinda scared about the whole book thing... I mean, I already bought my Japanese books and it came out to be about $200...For one class! ConWest has like twenty required texts but none more than $30 except for the Bible...*makes a face* Somehow, buying a Bible makes me feel like I'm betraying myself... Molecular Cell Biology and Organic Chem are going to hose me though... I'm going to think about $400 for both classes... I mean, geez, the Orgo books are already $200, not including the $100 lab book they're forcing us to buy. Thankfully MolecCell is only $125 and only has one book. There's no bio lab this year! I'm sad because I've always liked bio lab (bio major, remember?) but I'm thankful my wallet won't be taking an even bigger beating...

Aw fuck. I just did the math on my required booklist. Providing I buy everything new, it comes up to be $733.07... It'll be $20 more if I get the molecular model kit that's optional... God, that sucks. That's worse than last year! :(

I must buy all ConWest books used. Or not buy them at all. How hard would it be to get Plato's Symposium or Paine's Age of Reason online anyway? I shouldn't think it would be that difficult... And I've heard no one really reads Augustine's Confessions (although that makes me want to read it more) anyway... But still, even if I do that, I can't exactly shave off that much... There's always a used Bio book... :\

Well see how bad it is Sunday night...

Anyway, what's up with life? Oh, RCN sucks and I hate Water Street's internet. I think I did a gushing post a few days ago about how great it is. I've revised my opinion of it: it sucks ass. The ports for BT are being blocked and I can't forward them so I'm pretty much stuck at about 6-20 kb/s for downloading on BT. And mIRC isn't that great either... *makes a face* Streamload is still good so I'll probably be relying on that a lot more...

I can't help but whine and be annoyed at this development but it's occurred to me that with longer waits for episodes, I might actually be less inclined to watch them and therefore have more time to study... Which would be good since orgo and moleccell is killer but still... *sigh* I just wish it wasn't forced. And I have to admit Water Street is a very good dorm and that next year I'll most likely be here too...which means I'll be stuck with this internet forever. :(

Gah, I think the air conditioning on high is bad when you have wet hair. It's making me a bit dizzy... I think I'm going to turn it off, dry my hair and go to sleep... *glances at clock* Man, it's only 11:41?! Damn, that's early for me... So maybe I'll stay up a little bit longer.
