Damn snow!
Feb. 12th, 2006 08:40 am*whimpers* I hope I did the right thing...
I just cancelled our soup kitchen date for the entire club. I don't know if it'll be allowed but the snow is scary! How can I make people travel in it?! How can I? It is a blizzard for god's sake! Everyone on the news has said not to travel in it. I mean 12-20 inches just today!!
I'm scared of it -- I'm not ashamed to admit it. Little West Coast girl has not experienced such heavy snow and certainly does not know how to travel in it. So basically I've called everyone and said "hey, don't show up cuz I'm not going to be there" and called the actual organization and said "you gotta realize we can't come in this, right? I mean I don't know why you're not cancelled yet cuz do you really think even homeless people would be out in this weather?" or something on those lines.
I hope it's okay... But really, it's not an unreasonable request...Hopefully... I'm kinda wondering about the whole it's-community-service-therefore-should-go-on-no-matter-what-because-the-people-we-help-will-still-need-help thing. I don't know. I don't want to die and I don't want to get cold and I don't want to be stranded all alone because only one other person signed up and I doubt they'll actually show up.
So it's cancelled. I can't help but I'm doing a bad thing because this allows me to get more sleep and to study so I really wonder about my reasons and if they're pure or not. I really doubt it because I know me. I have one of those extreme personalities where traveling in this would not have been totally out of the question. It's because I don't want to be blamed for anything so I'd do stupid stuff that most people would write off as not having common sense. But then I get praise for being so dedicated. I think if I didn't need to study, I wouldn't have found an excuse within this snow... And the only reason that I have is because it really is a good valid reason for not going. The snow definitely scares the hell out of me...especially going out in it. It's absolutely crazy out there.
So therefore, cancelled.
