Man, I wish I had the digital camera with me today. We were running some errands for my mom and were just coming back from Papa Murphy's with a nice take & bake garlic chicken pizza when my sister noticed smoke. I thought she was just smelling someone's grill but then we noticed these big plumes of smoke coming from where the middle school was. At the time, I remember wondering if someone had finally set the place on fire... Like any other curious spectator, we drove towards the fire fully expecting it to be some sort of barbeque or bonfire.

And then we saw all the firemen and the firetrucks. And the big plumes of smoke coming from a house across the street from the middle school. There were flames coming out of the roof and everything -- very cool. It was kinda bad though. It had attracted a nice little crowd and we had our cell phones whipped out to take pictures of the blaze (my sister and I included -- rather nice ones surprisingly since the glare was rather bright). There was so much smoke and the flames were pretty impressive.

There were like fire trucks from everywhere -- Hood River, Parkdale, even Cascade Locks. Who weren't there? And oddly, the firepeople weren't really doing anything for a good amount of time that we were there...just standing around doing nothing. :\ Odd, I know. But eventually they started hosing the house down... They broke like all the windows to try and get at the insides of the house. That house was a goner though... I mean if it's spread up to the roof, the insides must have been pretty bad off. No one really knew anything about it at the scene so I don't know if anyone was inside, if it was a control/test burn or if it was an accident. I suspect I'll probably find out on Monday when the Hood River News comes out...

Still, this was probably the highlight of this summer -- the day I saw my first house burn down. Last year I had my near death experience and this year a house fire. Nice.

Today, I finally reached Xiao about my boxes. It's pretty much up in the air though, at least until I get back on Thursday. I'm most likely gonna get all my boxes that day. I think. :\ We'll see I guess. Like I said, pretty much up in the air.

But I did get her address so I have my Kimeru singles preordered! Yay! ^^ I'm going to enjoy those DVDs when October comes. :)

I checked my booklist for the semester -- total is around $500. *dies* So expensive! And that's only for three textbooks. *sigh* I'm not looking forward to spending all that money on it... But at least it's not as bad as freshman year when my total was over $600. That was definitely my worst year.

Now, time to eat dinner. I'm still pretty full from the pizza (so good, so good) so I think I'm just gonna eat a little... :\
