"Last year over 1000 students who renewed housing, and selected a room, cancelled during the summer months. 500 students were unable to participate in the room selection process due to these students holding spaces they did not intend to reside in."

This was from a letter NYU Housing sent out to everyone. And I personally think it's stupid as hell. How dare they make it out to be our fault? A lot of those people who withdrew from housing were people who were displaced and that was NYU's fault completely. And when they offered to let people out of their contracts and refund the money to anybody, not just the people who were displaced, well duh that a lot of people withdrew! They totally facilitated it! Those who were unhappy with their placement (I'm sure there was a mass exodus from 26th Street) were of course going to seize this chance to get out when they could. Blaming them to have caused the 500 students who were without housing is stupid.

Anyway, my Kimeru single came today! I love it, I just love it! Starry Heaven is beautiful and it's different from his usual stuff. It sounds more polished, lot more even and I could just listen to it forever. Daisuke Asakura definitely had a positive effect.

White Night is...just what I thought it would be. The beginning is so wonderfully beautiful! I just love how he starts this song!!! It's like a whole new Kimeru! I don't even mind the fact that it's Christmas themed because usually that's a turn off for me. The chorus -- don't like so much because I felt like Kimeru weren't a bit too whiny on some words which is a damn shame because he was perfect in the beginning. Slower, deeper is definitely something I wish Kimeru would do more often. I didn't know he had him in before but after hearing this song, I definitely am liking it more. This song makes me want to try my hand at translating which is like crazy because I don't know enough about Japanese to translate yet. And the fact that [livejournal.com profile] thats_my_line has already translated it does make me not want to do it as much as well...

As for the PV of Starry Heavens, I already liked the song so it was easy to like the PV as well. I loved how it started with the water since I do have a thing for water (so long as I'm not the one in them), and the various things being dropped in it was very cool. The flowers were also a very nice touch... It was like a whole in itself in the frames without Kimeru.

And am I supposed to know the guy in white? He gets shown rather often and more so than the guy in the guitars so I get this feeling that he's someone important...

I do adore the fact that we get to see people playing instruments in this. I do have this time for musicians -- I seriously feel those are the true backbone of a musical group and I've always been those who can play instruments. Although in hindsight, this does make my continuing love of Kimeru so odd because I definitely have made a transition in my life in the music that I like in terms of the fact that I do gravitate more towards people who can sing and play something but really, who cares as long as it's good music?

I was sad to see that the clip that was previously posted on the Nippon Crown website basically summarized the entire PV. Flowers, Kimeru in water, water, the other two musicians -- they were all in the clip and that's basically what's in the PV. I was always expecting something wonderful and great to suddenly appear but... Oh well, good song, visually beautiful PV so it does get high marks from me. ^^ I am definitely adoring the songs more. I melt every time White Night starts up (I've had them on repeat for the past like six hours). It's just so damn good!!! The more I listen to it, the more I love it. And the more I forgive the chorus and the more my mind tells me it's really not that bad. And it really isn't now that I've listened to it so many times. I love this song. I can easily see it becoming my current favorite song. And since it's all Christmasy, it fits with the season as well. You gotta love those sorts of connections, right?

Anyway, downloads! I'm sure everyone who really wanted them already got them from some place but just in case and also for Diana-chan and Nadine-chan too since they probably don't have any of them at all.

Day before Thanksgiving, I have every class except Comparative Politics but since that's in between Physics and Genetics, I actually have to and stay down there and I really just want to skip the entire day. And the thing is, I know I won't be missing anything vital if I do so I really have a hard time convincing myself to suffer through another day of Physics and Hulyalkar-sensei (I recently looked her up on RateMyProfessors.com and they call her a drill sergeant)...

But I'm going to go. *makes a face* I really don't want to but I feel like I have to. :( I just want this day to end and then I'll be so happy with nothing pressing on me this weekend....

edit x1: Physics makes me want to kill myself. That was the more torturous lecture yet. For the first time ever, I started to nod off a bit but I wasn't even that tired either. I was just bored out of my mind. Ya gotta love it when that happens, right? Your lecture bores you to sleep. Ugh, what a terrible way to start the day.

I am currently at a computer lab on campus since I needed to get my slides printed for Genetics. I'm desperately fighting the urge to run and go back to the dorm for the day and skip my last two classes. At least desperately fighting the urge not to skip Japanese. I really don't want to be in that damn class that makes me feel stupid and bad and guilty and everything negative under the sun. At least with Genetics, I find it interesting. We're doing apoptosis today and who doesn't love programmed cell death? I personally find it fascinating. It's high regulated and is a surprisingly important part of biological systems and it's just really cool.

I started getting hungry during lecture and I could do nothing about it then. But at least now I have a yummy lunch waiting for me. I had planned on getting pizza today but then I realized I had accidently made too much of my dinner last night (ziti pasta with chicken, bacon -bacon!!!- onions, green peppers, corn and peas) so I now have a yummy lunch. ^^

Okay, I'm going do nothing for a bit online and then go and eat my yummy pasta which is probably ice cold now that it's been out in the frigid cold air so so long... I'm like freezing now... :( Definitely not fun. I can't imagine how bad it's going to be Friday morning... :\

The List )

What does this say about me? I watch a lot of animes and have a tendency of not finishing them. And some of these shows are still ongoing and some of the fansubbers have fallen behind so I'm caught up in some of them to the latest subbed version released but not through the latest raw releases. But I couldn't in all conscience call those "finished" so I just left them italicized.

I am planning on fighting to get a cheap external hard drive on Friday. But I don't know which one I want. I have two that I'm going in between -- the I/O Magic 250 GB one for $39.99 and the Western Digital MyBook 400 GB one for $99.98. The WD one gets better reviews and seems to be most reliable. The I/O one is the best deal which is a very appealing to me as a semi-starving college student. So what should I do? If I'm going to be trekking it to Union Square to either Staples or Circuit City, I want to be in place, in line and definitely getting one of them. Circuit City starts at 5 AM, Staples at 6 AM but I think I need to leave really early, dress really warm and fight my way through the craziness that I assume Black Friday will be...

I would love the WD 400 GB one -- it's 400 GB which is a lot, and it's reliable and it's really is a good deal as it is. It's probably going to be hell to get and there are rebates associated which also kinda sucks but really when I think about it, spending only $40 is much preferable than $100. I can swing both of them but I really don't need 400 GB right? 250 GB should be plenty for me.

But the reliability issue does concern me. I don't want them to crash and die on me because 250 GB worth of stuff is a lot. I don't know. I need to decide soon but I don't know what to decide. I'm still leaning towards the I/O Magic one even if I'm feeling leery about it. I haven't heard overwhelmingly bad reviews, just some that make me concerned so I guess I'll just have to see how that concern weighs out... It's hard just going on what I hear online because I don't know either brands so I'm just trying to base my opinions on things I don't know are true or not... :\

But tomorrow is Thanksgiving! I have no plans other than to make a real breakfast, watch the parade and possibly study a bit. Maybe. I don't know. Studying and me usually never works out so... I'm just planning on relaxing and trying not to freak about going to shop when it's dark outside. And cold too. Not to mention having to go on the subway... I hope leaving around 4 AM is early enough... :\
