Stuff and More Music from Scrubs
Feb. 26th, 2007 12:42 amYay! I have cable back! Actually, I don't know when it actually came back but it's back now and I just finished watching the Amazing Race. I seriously didn't think I would like the All Stars version -- I mean a lot of these people I was happy to see leave the game the first time around. But surprisingly, it's really good. I missed some of these teams -- especially Oswald and Danny, the team that I had absolutely adored the first time around. And it's nice seeing Eric and Danielle too. I don't quite remember Team Guido but I'm starting to really like them as well. You can really see that having gone through the race once, they really do have more experience in dealing with other teams (kinda), and with generally running the race. I am definitely looking forward to more of it.
So today, I managed to get my Physics reading done. I'm still working on my part of the Japanese midterm oral script but I'm thinking just over a page on my part should be good enough for the one scene which probably will only take an hour or two to completely finish. If I have time, I wanna study Ecology a bit as well as tackle my Physics homework but I have a feeling it's not going to happen. The midterm for Ecology is Wednesday and I don't feel good about it at all... It's 45% of the entire grade -- what is with that? The final is only 35% and yet the midterm is weighted even higher? Ugh, it makes me feel like I'll need to really step up my studying...
I really hate having to deal with my Japanese. My professors expects "complex constructions with a variety in grammar" which tells me nothing. And I think they want really long sentences too... I'm trying to accommodate, but I really feel like normally people don't talk like that so it's not coming out naturally. I really hate these orals.... But at least I have a good partner. We're meeting a lot which I'm not all too happy with (especially with one right before my Ecology midterm -- literally hours before) but it's probably needed.
OH MY GOD! When did it start SNOWING?! I knew it was supposed to snow tomorrow but when did it start? If the news didn't do a little commercial about it, I would never have known! I know I'll have class tomorrow but SNOW! REAL SNOW! I'm so happy. ^^ I hope it doesn't stop for a while. ^^ God, I love watching snow fall... *sigh of contentment*
Okay, music. After I finished watching Scrubs, there were a few more songs that I wanted to share. One was Kutless' All the Words since I had mentioned it before. It does sound like a normal pop song but at the same time, it really can't get away from the fact that it is a Jesus worship type song either. To me, I can just feel it from the very beginning of the song.
Another song is Fountains of Wayne's Hey Julie which had played during the time where JD was dating Julie. It's such a fun song -- I can't stop listening to it. I just love the way it sounds, how all the instruments work with each other to make this neat little song. It's too bad it's so short but that doesn't diminish the fact that it's a good song.
The next song is Toto's Africa which played during that one scene where JD was in Elliot's bathtub taking a bubble bath. It was the episode where he had a day off but his interns kept paging him in and all he wanted to do was just go back home. Anyway, I really liked the song that he was playing even if I didn't understand the significance of Toto. I still don't actually, is it a group that gay men like? That girls like? *shrugs* I have a feeling it's way before my time.
Anyway, the next two songs are from The Fray and you all probably have heard both of them before but I thought I would share anyway since I loved both songs. I had gotten into the Fray back when they had just been debuting Over My Head and while I had liked How to Save a Life, I hadn't really paid much attention to it. But then it started to gain in popularity as well and people like my sister and brother were mixing the two of them up and they're really not the same song. Sure, they sound somewhat similar at parts, but they're distinctive in their own right. At least I think so.
The last song is not from Scrubs but is the theme song to Psych, that TV show on USA. I totally think the main character is going to go to hell (if I believed in it) for some of the stuff he's done but that's okay, it's still a neat theme song. It's called I Know, You Know by the Friendly Indians. Let me quote you a few lines to show you why I adore this song:
In between the lines there's a lot of obscurity,
I'm not inclined to resign to maturity,
If it's all right, then you're all wrong
Why bounce around to the same damn song?
And:
I know, you know that I'm not telling the truth
I know, you know they just don't have any proof
Raise the deception, learn how to bend
Your worst inhibitions tend to psych you out in the end
I mean, isn't that amazing? It's such a neat little song that fits so well to the show... Anyway, it's short, TV-sized since I don't think there is a full version out (yet?). I was totally obsessed with this song when I had first gotten it and had meant to put it with the last music post but somehow it managed to slip through the cracks.
And before I go to bed (damn, it's already 1 AM?), I just wanna pimp G Tom Mac's Half a bit more. I put it on the last post but I especially want to share this song at the very least. So, Diana, if you download only one song, make it this one. It's so amazingly beautiful! The lyrics, the vocals, the instruments... Tell me that dramatic beginning with the violins just doesn't lure you into this song and set the entire mood for the rest of the song. It's so seductively alluring... I love strong openings and this song's beginning just hit all the right buttons for me. I think this song featured in its entirety in the fourth season finale of Scrubs which tells you that they think highly of this song as well... Just try it out -- I promise you won't be disappointed. God, I love the violins in this song... They were just so well utilized...
