I suspect people have been getting their letters for Housing earlier than August 1st since the posts seemed to have started towards the end of July. And since I live on the other side of the country, I always get the letters from NYU a day or two later than people from say...New York or New Jersey. So I've been waiting anxiously for my room assignment just like all the incoming freshman.
It was my fault though, completely and absolutely my fault that I had to do this this year. Neither my future roommate Janet nor I actually remembered to print the confirmation page after we chose our rooms since choosing our rooms was hellish and we were sooo late to our next class.
I had thought our room was 1718 (17th floor, 18th room) but Janet wasn't so sure so that made me not so sure and since it didn't say anything in the status page for Housing next year, I really didn't know what room we had.
But I'm happy to say that it really is 1718! I've been trying to get into the Housing page since about 3:30 AM (I was awake, it was technically the 3rd, so why not?) but I guess they weren't finished uploading all the info yet. But I woke up today and I was finally able to check it. And seeing as it was two days later than they originally said the info was going to be posted, I've been waiting in anticipation for the past few days.
So now I know. 1718, which unfortunately is a one bedroom apartment instead of a suite as we planned. It's a bit more expensive than a suite by a couple hundred... My parents are okay with it since it's only a couple hundred and they like the idea of a bedroom but still, a suite would have been nice. I'm of the thought that if I can save some money, even if it's a measly couple of hundred, I should. And I could so live in a suite...
So should we try to change after the 3 week period to a suite? Should we stay? Should we try to make the common room into a bedroom as some people have done? I guess I'll have to wait until I'm back in New York to figure all this out and I can talk with Janet about things...
