I roasted garlic yesterday. The first attempt wasn't so great but I redid it and it turned out awesome. I mixed it with some margarine (didn't have butter), spread it over sliced wheat bread (didn't have French bread), covered it with chipotle cheddar cheese (didn't have regular cheese -- should have used four cheese or an Italian mix) and then put it into the broiler to melt the cheese and to crisp up the bread. And that's how I made my yummy makeshift garlic bread using only ingredients I had in my pantry and fridge. ^^

I made several batches because I didn't realize how good it would be and had to have more. Yesterday, my first batch turned out okay but unfortunately, my cheese hadn't melted enough... Nor was the bread all that crispy. It was rather soggy, actually... :( My second batch was awesome and was just the right amount of crispiness and melty cheesy goodness. Third batch made today was left in the oven a bit too long and was overly crispy...Actually, more crunchy than anything. The cheese was starting to oil up and bubble because it was heated too long... But it was still really yummy. The chipotle cheddar gave it a nice kick that I wasn't sure would go well with the garlic but I like it a lot. Just a bit of fire, not too much and it works so well! ^^

I'm going to have to buy more cheese, a proper loaf of French bread and some more garlic. On head really isn't that much to my surprise. In the past, it would take me a whole school year to use up a whole package of garlic (about five heads), but I think I'm going to be buying a lot more garlic this year. Thank god garlic is cheap...

So enough on food... Today, I went to work but I might as well didn't. There were two freshmen trips and apparently, the bulk of the classes I tutor in have freshmen. So the two classes of Ecology that I had watched a National Geographic documentary on Jane Goodall and her chimps. I sat around and tried to study but I didn't bring anything so all I really had were stuff from the last two Micro lectures. So now I know horizontal gene transfer really well... Sure I had gone over it already in MolecCell but revision is always good.

I was struck by the differences in my two Ecology classes. Period 7 is a smaller class than period 8 but it's right after lunch and the kids are totally out of control. They make no attempt to do their work, aside from maybe one or two students (there's one girl who's pretty studious who I love helping because she's really one of the few people trying to do work) and just talk and go crazy for an entire class. I'm convinced some of them are evil.

Period 8 is only one period after it and half the time it's overcapacity (the room has enough chairs for 25 kids but there's about 32 in the class) but they are so much more behaved. It's crazy! Most of them do their work most of the time. During the movie, they actually watched it and was enjoying it! Because they kept their volume down, I was able to watch it too, something I couldn't do because I couldn't hear anything over the rowdiness and noise. The kids in period 7 were so disrespectful and made fun of the movie, of Jane and of the chimps the entire way through. I was so disgusted. Period 8 however was awesome! They actually liked the chimps and liked the movie and sympathized with the chimps. They were so good and I was so proud of them. It's amazing how one period could make such a big difference. Of course, it might also be the fact that period 7 have some terrible students, some of them I've had before and I know are problem students. Some of them just plain scare me and I don't even try. It's horrible, I know but $10 is so not worth it.

So, after Ecology, I went to Rosen's Math class but he wasn't in and the kids were transferred down to the cafeteria for the last period. So me and Darcy decided to leave because there's nothing for us to do. I went back to the dorm and have been here ever since.

I think I'm going to take a nap. Tomorrow's my 8 AM class and I refuse to be dead, again, for it. I've been tired every single day this week and it's getting annoying. Coffee helps for about an hour and then it runs out and I'm just left jittery and tired. Tomorrow I have no work, time to go back to my dorm in between classes, make lunch and take a nap if I should want to and then it's Friday. One day's worth of work, I can deal and then three day weekend! I love Columbus Day!!! So totally awesome! ^^
