Green Tea Chocolate Marble Pocky
Nov. 18th, 2007 08:02 pmThe more I buy Pocky and the more I eat them, the more I feel as though they're not really worth the price. I went shopping for Chinese vegetables on Friday and on my way through the snack aisle, I saw what looked to be Green Tea Pocky with swirls of chocolate on them. Turns out it's this new Marble Pocky (I'm using new since it's new to me but for all I know it's been out for years and it's only now that it's been stocked at that particular store).
It's pretty good. I've never been too fond of the normal Green Tea Mousse Pocky, but I've never hated it before. But the chocolate does make it better. Right now I seem to be in a chocolate phase that started with the chocolate cake that I baked, the toffee-coated pistachios covered in chocolate (which were awesome by the way, so need to get myself some more of it) and my Swiss chocolate bar with whole hazelnuts... It just seems like I'm on this weird chocolate kick. In any case, it makes me appreciate Green Tea Chocolate Marble Pocky so much more.
Yet, is it worth it? The one box I bought sold for $2.49. It held three individual packages, each of which held four (four!! Seriously, how cheap can you get?) Pocky sticks which meant I had a total of 12 sticks of Pocky. That makes each stick about 20 cents, a kinda of a hefty price. Considering I can get a whole Pork and Chive dumpling, or a whole 10 ounce bag of Calbee Shrimp Chips for that price (the latter of which I actually did buy -- so very yummy, but so bad for you...), I'm starting to think they're not really worth it. Still, when you're munching on a Pocky stick, they really are pretty yummy and it's hard to give them up.
