Flying hell
Dec. 22nd, 2007 05:02 pmSo I was supposed to be home about three hours ago. I was picked up by Super Shuttle early, which is a second for me. I got to the airport and it was all good. Until we got on the plane and found out that Chicago was fogged in. We waited in the airplane for an hour, waiting for the fog to let up before we took off.
While flying there, we found out that the fog didn't let up. At all. So we flew circles in a holding pattern until we ran out of fuel which forced us to land in Champagne, Illinois to refuel up. I was pretty sure I had missed my connecting flight at that point because I only had an hour in between flights. :\
We finally land at Midway in Chicago and we were about two and half hours late. I missed my connecting flight. I talked to an ATA rep, they sent me to Southwest in a whole different terminal (SO FAR AWAY -- it had to be at the very end of the other terminal, didn't it?) and I was put on a flight to Kansas City.
I didn't know what state Kansas City was in until my brother told me! That's where I am now. Here in Kansas City, I was placed on a flight to LA, connecting to Sacramento and then finally to Portland. I was told that we would get into Portland around 8:30 PM -- about nine hours after when I should have arrived.
But there's another problem here in KC. We're snowed in. With apparently ice pellets in the snow which hinder taking off. I've been here for almost four hours now and I'm still here. My take off keeps getting pushed back and the gate I'm supposed to be leaving from still has the previous plane there so my plane still hasn't gotten in yet.
What's worse is that I'm on standby and I might still get pulled off the plane in Sacramento because its overbooked so I might get as far as Sacramento, get pulled off and be stuck there.
This totally sucks! I haven't eaten. I haven't slept... I just want to go home already... I mean this is the most convoluted way of getting home from NYC to Portland. I mean NYC to Chicago, Chicago to Kansas City, Kansas City to LA, LA to Sacramento and then Sacramento to Portland? Maybe? I just want to be at home already... :(
Oh, I think the kiosk place is getting more sandwhiches in. I think I might need a little something after all...
