Programming, why must you be so hard...?
Mar. 11th, 2008 10:50 pmGah, I am just starting to hate programming... I really am. The latest assignment he's given us less than a week to complete and it's driving me insane. I have half of it done but I can't figure out how to do the other half. Basically, we're taking a string and we're capitalizing every word in the string. Somehow I have to figure out how to tell it to capitalize a character if it is preceded by a space. So how the hell do I do that? What is a space? How can I tell it to recognize a space if I don't know how a space is really defined... The lack of a character? How do I write that? *shakes head*
The problem is that I don't think my professor is a very good teacher. We haven't covered spaces and yet the assignment hinges on them. I can capitalize the entire string perfectly well enough but differentiating the first character of a word and just capitalizing that is a bit beyond me...
I'm hoping to god he'll talk about it during tomorrow's lecture. He said something about it last class but it wasn't enough for me to figure out how to do it. What he did say, I understood but it doesn't really deal with the space parts of it at all... If he doesn't talk about it, I think I'm going to have to hit on of the Programming tutors to get some help because otherwise, I have no idea how to complete this assignment (that's due Thursday!) at all... And I just spent three hours on it trying to figure it out with no luck! :(
Today was pretty okay though. I had a good day at work, which is rare. And after work, I went and got pho at Pho Grand! Some pics, mostly for Diana-chan who loves pho so much:

It all looks yummy, doesn't it? Pho Grand has some pretty good pho in my opinion. I got the large Tai Name Gan Sach Pho, which is number two on the menu. It's like number 1 only without the navel... I got the navel once and it freaked me out so much that I couldn't eat it... >.< It just wasn't good. But number two has everything that I like -- the raw eye of round, brisket, tendon and omosa. God, I love tendon and omosa. And this time I got a ton of tendon which is totally awesome. The large is actually pretty huge but I skipped lunch so I felt justified. That big bowl cost me $5.25 and there was a $1 in tax so it cost me $6.25 total. Not bad for a nice little snack.
Mmm...just thinking about pho makes me want some right now...
