I turn on the TV in my hotel room and the first thing I saw was this guy in a tree who looked awfully familiar. It was David Hewlett! I would recognize that face anywhere! I mean come on, David Hewlett! ^^ So I went and checked the Bravo! channel website (which apparently is different from America's Bravo channel which kinda sucks because I wanted to watch Top Chef tonight) and confirmed that it was the younger David Hewlett. But I guess now I'll be watching Treed Murray instead. It does have the great David Hewlett so that's got me piqued.

And hey, isn't that Jake from Animorphs? Ah, nope, it's just the guy's twin brother... God, Animorphs... Good times, good times.

The parentals have decided to walk to the CN Tower as this is our last night here in Toronto and we haven't gone there yet. It's a bit expensive to go up there and so not worth it. It would have the most expensive tourist attraction we would have gone to this trip yet. Hopefully they won't get lost... :\ Getting there shouldn't be so bad as the tower is freaking ass huge but coming back would kinda suck. :\

So far I've been in Toronto for three days and in Canada for four and I've got to say, I don't really like it all that much. They speak English here so it should be like the US but they don't feel the same. For one thing, I've never seen so many maple leaves in my life. I mean geez, it's not like the US throws around the US flag or the stars and stripes everywhere to declare our American identity on every single thing. It's on advertisements, store signs, every single thing. :\

Niagara Falls was rather cool though so I'll give Canada that. Their Asian malls are impressive but the people who go there freak me out just a little since they're so Asian-y, it's scary. I'm so not that I guess it's a bit off-putting for me. I mean I can barely speak Chinese and am not really keyed into that sort of culture at all. My cousins are so that type of people and I was like, wow, I can already see we're not going to click at all. And I can kinda see how they wouldn't click with the rest of the family back home too... Aside from the old ones, we're rather Americanized and they're rather HK preppy Chinese-y. And since I basically avoided that type of people at NYU, I'm just not all too used to it at all. But even at NYU, the Chinese people weren't so bad in that they did hang around only with other Chinese people but they didn't speak so much Chinese all the time...

What I also find odd is that just a little language and we have several warnings about the content of the show. And they show it like at the end of every commercial break so it gets a bit tiring. Here, we have it at the beginning of the show and that's it, something I find a bit more preferable. I guess Canadians care a bit more about the TV content that is shown to kids/younger viewers.

Food here is better than in NY but it's also more expensive so I'm not sure if that works out well. And that taxes here kinda make me want to kill myself rather than buy something from a store. I mean geez, and I thought NY had it rough. I can't even believe how high the taxes are here... And since Oregon has no sales tax (or dining tax), I'm not used to it. It took a while just to get used to NY's taxes but here it's like so much more worse...

What else... I think I had thought Toronto would have been more...big city like. But it's not really... It just doesn't fit my image of what Toronto should be bigger, more massive and more impressive. Instead, I find myself comparing it more to Portland than I do to NYC. Maybe it's just because I went from Hood River, a place that is minuscule and Portland that is city but a rather small city to NYC which is a really big city and that basically colored my views on what cities should be like. I'm starting to get the feeling that if it's not NYC, I might not be comfortable with it because now I'm used to NYC and I expect it and when I look for things, I'm going to expect it to be like NYC and it won't be because it's not NYC. Oh well...

Tonight, I'm going to relax. Tomorrow, we're flying back home some I'm going to be traveling for basically half the day. Joy. Here's to hoping nothing bad happens. No more missing our flights! *hopes to God everything works out okay tomorrow*
