Et tu, Google?
Apr. 19th, 2009 09:29 pmSometimes I think my life is just one big computer problem. Or one endless computer problem. Or at the very least, one computer problem after another after another until I'm driven so insane that I just want to take my laptop and see if it'll fly like a frisbee if I throw it hard enough.
Hmm, I really wonder...
Aside from the never ending computer problem that I've had plague me for the last month, I'm having browser trouble. More specifically, IE doesn't seem to like Google. I know, of all the sites...Google... *shakes head* I keep getting the "Internet Explorer Cannot Open the Internet Site, Operation Aborted" message more and more whenever I go onto either Google or when I use Google to search for something. Firefox does not have this problem and apparently neither does IE8. I decided a week ago that I wasn't going to upgrade from IE7 to IE8. Partly because IE8 is still buggy and I wanted more literature on it before I decided to ditch a browser I knew well and I knew there would be a lot of information about should anything goes wrong. And partly because I had only recently discovered IE7Pro and I wanted to keep those features a bit longer to enjoy because who knows what might and might not work with IE8?
So far, I've just disabled active scripting, something I was a bit loathed to do. It's not a good solution by any means but I'm just hoping for a stop gap measure until Google figures out what about its site is causing all these troubles and fixes things. It didn't used to be this way and I have faith they'll get to the bottom of it eventually. Hopefully soon because it's really annoying. I can't even count the number of times I use Google in a day...it's just that many.
I could just switch over to Firefox but for better or for worse, I am an IE girl. And I will always be an IE girl. Despite its flaws and its bad rep (which I think is not as bad as some people make it out to be), I like it. I'm familiar with it and every time I open Firefox, I feel like I'm betraying IE. Plus, I just think IE looks better and I'm all about the aesthetics of a program. It's probably the biggest reason why I like Vista -- it really does have a pretty interface. I'm hoping IE8 is awesome and I hope IE9 is even awesomer. Here's to the future of IE -- may it redeem itself in the eyes of people who have forsaken it and reward those who've stayed with it loyally.
