May. 17th, 2010 05:49 amOkay, I may have fallen slightly in love with Keisuke's character too. I can't remember if I fangirled him before but maybe it's my age but the bad boy feeling I get from him is just a bit of dangerous fun. And it helps that I adore his seiyuu too. I do remember thinking he and Kyoko made a cute couple and wished they had at least tried working it out.
I have to say, the phrase "ピンとこない" comes up a hell of a lot in this anime. I don't know if I'm just hyper aware of it now but it seems like I'm always hearing it. I just love how expressive it is... I remember hearing it for the first time in my second year Japanese class. Maria was probably the only one in the class who could translate it well (even if Kondou-san was there too) since she actually lived in Japan for part of her life rather than Kondou-san who was just raised here. For me, I think of it more as the "ding" before a realization sets in, the light bulb suddenly turning on. Or rather, when something doesn't register at all in the case of this usage since it is negative...
I also noticed something with the Live-Evil/Ideology translation of Nobody Reason. It's slightly wrong. For some reason, they translated what is clearly caterpillar in katakana as a tank. I don't understand how they could have made that mistake... Plus, it changes the image the song is trying to set up. :\ I mean, a blooming rose being trampled by a caterpillar is different from a tank, right?
Anyway, I'm going to bed. I tried to finish off rewatching the Fourth Stage but I couldn't do it. :( Two more episodes. And then manga time. It's a bit scary since I know some of those volumes available aren't scanlations but scans of the TokyoPop versions and they are as bad as I thought. Renaming people (Mogi as Natalie? Wha...? Even if Natsuki and Natalie sound somewhat similiar, they aren't! And K.T?! Tak?! Ugh...) but I'll hopefully get it through it with the least amount of pain. And I hear it's somewhat different from the anime so I'm looking forward to it tomorrow, especially anything that sheds light on the relationship Ryosuke and Keisuke have as brothers. I love that sort of thing (father/son, brother/brother, male friend/male friend) but purely on a platonic level. Somehow, I can't slash these two with anyone else. And it tempts me to slash them together despite my avid incest phobia. They strain me, they really do.
One last thing -- soy toffee nut coffee frappucino with whipped cream and caramel drizzle? OH MY GOD. Most delicious frappucino I've ever had. One taste, and I was in heaven. Totally my go to frappucino from now on! Mmmm....
Here's to dreams of the Takahashi brothers... Mmmm...
