Nov. 26th, 2010 05:01 pmI am alive!
It's 4:30 PM and I only woke up half an hour ago. Right now, I'm watching the Oregon and Arizona game (GO DUCKS!) and I've just had a hot Maruchan and a peanut butter and jelly sandwich to make up for the fact it's been like 22 hours since I last ate... ><
Anyway, yesterday we did Thanksigiving in Portland. Didn't do dim sum like I thought but did get a Chinese lunch. Then we popped around the city. We wanted to visit the new H&M but it was closed. :( Then we went and visited relatives, both at their house and at their restaurants. It was interesting. I got Red Vines (in honor of Darren and Joey) and a bunch of movie theatre candy at a Dollar Tree.
Then we did hot pot at another relatives house. Oh my god, so much food. I bowed out pretty early and I just had to marvel at my sister's bottomless pit of a stomach... I can't even count how many rounds she went through... o.O The neatest thing we ate? These fish balls that have raw fish eggs (tobiko I think?) in the middle of them -- seriously, whomever thought of that was genius.
We went home after that and my father was pretty freaked out by the chance of freezing rain and drove really slowly... I don't think it mattered that much since it didn't freezing rain on us but it did let me get in a nap and considering I had only 3 hours of sleep prior, I needed that nap.
It was like 12:30 AM by the time we got back to Hood River so we decided to swing by Wal-Mart since we heard they were open at midnight. There was a pretty long line just to get in since they only let a few people in at a time... We decided to wait and oh my god, it was cold and the line was slow moving and I was wearingly only jeans, a sweater and a light jacket. Not waiting material! We waited like 50 minutes and I thought I was going to get frostbite on my toes.
NO ARIZONA!!! :(
I'm feeling scared for Oregon now. We need to retaliate!!! We can't freaking lose the BCS because of damn fucking Arizona!!! Do not give me another reason to hate your state!
Okay back to waiting in line. Eventually, we get inside. We mostly wanted towels -- got the last three that were for $1.33. They were of an ugly brown color but they were cheap. *shrugs* We also got some heated blankets, and some jeans. And a slow cooker. My mother really wanted a laptop so I went and got the wristband for it. People were waiting in line for it but most people were going for the cheap laptop and the TVs. They gave those out at 3 AM and I went and got mine around 3:30 AM? Basically when we were about to leave...
We could have stayed in the nice warm store but we decided to just go home and come back later. I'm not really sure it was the best idea now...
In the end, I went back at 4:50 AM. We live like less than a minute away from Wal-Mart so I thought it would be good. I leave the house and it's snowing. Not freezing rain as it was predicted but snowing. I feel a little apprehensive but I didn't go back inside to bundle up or anything like that. I keep going. I get to Wal-Mart and the line was longer than it was when we first went! I wait in a line for the second time that night! This time it was snowing! And then it was snowing really hard! And sticking! I was freaking out a little (we live on a hill and driving up in a minivan in the snow doesn't always work) but I was too cold to really care that much about it. This time it was colder, with snow and I was again beating myself up for not putting up more layers, my snowboots and a bigger coat because my toes were so cold that I couldn't feel them anymore.
In the line, I got the sense that a lot of people were sad that they weren't going to get electronics (apparently all the wristbands were given out by 4:30 AM) and the mother and daughter pair behind me were really disappointed that the TV they wanted was sold out. We were all really cold so we just commiserated on that front.
Eventually, we get inside -- it was going five people at a time and was actually faster than the first time I was in line... But I still ended up spending 40 minutes out there. I go straight for the laptop. They snip off my armband, I get the laptop my mother wanted and then I go for the 500 GB hard drive that I wanted. It's so freaking cute! It's a WD Passport so they're meant to be portable but it's like more than 10x smaller than my 350 MyBook and I can't get over how small and cute it is! I don't even know what to use it for yet! I just ended up putting some of the anime and my NDS games on it... So cute, so cute, so cute! I'm so glad to have it! ^^ And at $39, so worth it! :)
Okay, I'm going back to the game. Oregon has tied it up again, yay, and hopefully we get to our Civil War game next week with our record intact... *yawns* I kinda want to go back to sleep though*
My sister was supposed to come in today with her boyfriend but with the weather as it is, they probably won't. :(
But I guess that gives me extra time for NaNo today? Yesterday, I only wrote a thousand words but today, I shall go for 312 since that's how many words I need per day to finish on time. Hopefully it'll be more than that but I am so tired right now, I can't guarantee not dropping off while watching the game...
