Tonight's episode of Top Chef was amazing! Hilarious!

Being Chinese, you kinda get it, maybe a bit more than the average American (white) viewer. I personally had a kick in seeing them all shop at Hong Kong Supermarket -- my Chinese supermarket when I lived in NYC. But Grand Harmony being one of the top dim sum restaurants in Chinatown? Uh, what? I've never eaten there so I can't speak to how they are but I've eaten at the other "top" places in Chinatown (though everyone knows if you get better stuff out in Flushing or Brooklyn) and I've never heard anyone even talk about Grand Harmony.

( Spoilers? Does anyone on my flist even watch this show who hasn't seen it yet? )

I do love Top Chef though. I'm so glad to see it back! Don't leave me again!

...but I still don't think it's as good as the Amazing Race.

(no subject)

I'm spending the night backing up my data on my laptop... Today, a very strange sound was emitted from it, something like a strangled beep and quite unlike anything I had ever heard from it before. I'm not sure what it means but that coupled with the numerous BSODs I've been getting lately (I've attributed it to FV since it makes Flash and Firefox crash like crazy), I'm starting to think my hard drive might be in danger.

So just in case, I'm back up essential data...my translations, my manga, music, that sort of stuff... Since I've done this numerous times before now, I'm basically an old hand at it and it's going smoothly. And with my new external hard drive, I have ample amount of space to just put lots of crap on it and sort it all out later. Yay for that.

I'm doing my manga now but I'm starting to think I might have been smarter to do my bookmarks first. That and my music as their files are much less numerous and thus, much less time consuming to get through... I don't think my computer is going to die right at this moment so I'm not sensing much of a rush to get it all done now but just in case...Especially since I apparently have almost 29 GB of manga and it's projecting it to take 10 hours to copy. It won't take that long, it never does but still, it's a bit alarming... :\

I'm keeping my fingers crossed for a good result.
