Feb. 1st, 2012 05:56 pmA random music post, since I haven't had one of those in a while...
Man, I am loving Train's Drive By! I never even heard of it until it was in the opener of that one episode of Hawaii Five-0 and now, it's everywhere on the radio! And I don't even like Train! I positively LOATHED Drops of Jupiter and Hey Soul Sister was only made bearable after I listened to Darren Criss sing it over a hundred times, in the show and on the Warblers album. But I'm of the supreme belief that a song sung a capella makes it better. But the more I listen to this song, the more I adore this song! My favorite lines are "on the upside of a downward spiral / my love for you went viral" and "when you move me / everything is groovy." I love it when anyone uses the word "groovy" non-ironically...
Also, a first for me today! I finally heard my first One Direction song! Seriously, all that I knew about this group was that the 1Directioners hate the Beliebers and vice versa and they seem to have many pointless Twitter hashtag wars with each other. So yeah, nothing good. I mean, if they have the same crossover fans, then they must be as bad as Justin Bieber, right? But I was pleasantly surprised. They were nothing horrible, maybe the same type of stereotypical mediocrity that is typical of most pop groups nowadays but the one song I heard on the radio today was very easy on the ears so I was surprised.
Lastly, I'm still loving the Glee songs from last night! My music playlist right now consists of six of the ten songs from last night (though, technically only nine aired but I'm totally listening to IWYB so I counted it) on constant repeat. Although, today, Drive By has joined it but only because I adore that song. I think this is one of the few episodes where I'm actually listening to a majority of the songs that were in it. And that I'm listening to songs that don't feature Darren Criss. This tells me that musically, at least Glee succeeded on that front. We won't talk about plot but we never talk about plot anyway.
