Apr. 29th, 2012 02:16 amSo, I got some goodies from the mail today!
First the MicroSD card Reader Clip MP3 Player I signed up for on April 1st finally came! It's like a Chinese knockoff (it was shipped from HK!) old generation iPod Shuffle that uses an SD card to hold mp3 files. It's free (they give out five every day here: http://www.micbus.com/Free-Sample-TF-Micro-SD-Card-Reader-Clip-MP3-Player-5-Samples-Per-Day at 5 PM CST) but it doesn't come with anything but the clip player -- I had to supply my own MicroSD card (I have so many 2 GB ones laying around from various cell phone upgrades) and earbuds. And it uses a miniUSB cable to charge it, which is kinda old school since people seem to prefer microUSB nowadays... But thankfully, I never throw anything away so I still have my cables from my old phones/digital camera which used miniUSB so I didn't have to buy anything for it.
Sure, the audio quality sucks and the volume control is wonky since it's defaulted on VERY LOUD and every time you turn it off, it goes back to the default so it ends up blasting you each time you turn it on. Not to mention, the lowest volume setting is too low but the next one up is too loud and they just get progressively louder from there. But it's free, so who really cares?
And today I got my first issue of Seventeen magazine! Whoo! This is actually the first magazine I've gotten through Recyclebank so I was quite excited to see it arrive in my mailbox. That means right now I'm getting Seventeen, Newsweek and Forbes for free. I didn't get either Newsweek (last week was a double issue) or Forbes (biweekly publication and they published last week) this week but I'm getting them regularly so yay!
Not to mention I found out you can manage your magazine subscriptions online so I finally got confirmation that I'm going to be getting Details! Yay! And double yay because yesterday I was also finally able to score Teen Vogue through RewardsGold, despite last week's miss opportunity. Like Details, I haven't gotten a confirmation email and it's a bit too early for it to show up as one of my subscribed magazines (there's apparently a pending transaction but I suspect it's the W magazine I signed up for earlier this week and not Teen Vogue that I only did yesterday) so I'll wait a few weeks and double check it.
That combined with the issues of Cosmo, Harper's Bazaar, Marie Claire and Everyday Food means I'm going to be getting a ton of free magazines this month! Yay free stuff! And I'm set should any of these publications have anything Darren Criss/Glee related in the next year... Priorities, right? ^^;;
The last thing I got in the mail? My ballot. It's time for Oregon to finally vote but as a Democrat, I basically get to vote for Obama. And apparently a new Sheriff, Attorney General and it seems like a primary for our State Representative and Congressman... Lots of things to vote for, hopefully I make the right choices. Or at least ones that don't benefit Republicans since I can't stand the thought of helping them in any way... :\
