May. 27th, 2012 02:56 amSo a few weeks back, I logged into my Starbucks account and I found a random $5 gift card registered to my account. It was random because I didn't register a new card, nor did I get any cards from anybody. I certainly didn't buy a new card since I went a bit overboard during their Frappuccino Happy Hour and drank way too much Starbucks in a short succession of time. Plus, I was trying to reach Gold and when I finally hit it (I try not to think about how much coffee that means I've consumed in that last year and how much it all cost because it would make me T_T), I made a pact to try and limit my Starbucks coffee habit. And try and drink more drip coffee at home.
So I wouldn't have bought it for myself. And I was trying to figure out where the hell it came from because it was all very mysterious. A random $5 gift card? What the hell was that? The transaction history told me it was from back in early April but that didn't make much sense... I decided that I probably would never figure out how it came to be in my account (glitch in my favor?) so I just transfered the money from that card to my regular card, just in case it would leave me just as quickly and mysteriously as it came to me.
Fast forward to today where I get a letter from Starbucks. I thought it was my Gold card and I was so happy! And then I realized it wasn't. :(
But instead, it was the gift card that had been registered my account! Apparently, they gave me a $5 gift gard as a "present to help get you from Green to Gold" because they "thought we'd send you a little motivation to find out for yourself" what "happens when people reach Gold." I guess when you get close to Gold status, they send you a $5 gift card? I mean, sure that's like one normal drink but it's still nice of them! It's like one free star! And actually, I had already spent that money before this card ever got to me... ^^;;; I'm trying to cut back but I can't go completely cold turkey! Anyway, now I have this cute little green Starbucks card. I use a Wintry themed one currently (I find it quite cute) but maybe I should switch? Hmm...
But now that that's one mystery solved, I still haven't received my Gold card! When is that going to get here?
