Aug. 31st, 2012 05:29 pmIt's $2 iced grande drinks after 2 PM at Safeway this weekend and I just had my first one! Since Starbucks is horribly overpriced, I always feel the need to take full advantage of their deals whenever they come around, if only to rack up more stars so I can get a measly free drink (nine more stars to go!), or to get Gold status. But since I already achieved Gold status (never thought that would ever happen), I guess I'm working towards keeping it... I really do love my Gold Starbucks card... It's thicker than a normal Starbucks card and it's so pretty... *_*
So today, I went with an iced grande 3 pump white chocolate mocha with whipped cream. I'm normally a soy toffee nut latte girl or a caramel macchiato type of person, but sometimes I like to indulge in sweetness and get the white chocolate mocha. But what I've found out is that both the white chocolate mochas and the white chocolate frappuccinos at Starbucks are crazily sweet, way, way, way too sweet for me. It's so sweet, all I can taste is sweetness. So I've learned from my past experiences and now I get it with only 3 pumps because then I can at least taste coffee in my drink rather than just sugar. And it's yummy! Perfect!
It's too bad this deal doesn't extend to frappuccinos but I can get why it wouldn't. I would have totally gotten a frappuccino had it did. But it's okay, I liked iced coffees too. I suspect this deal is more to highlight their Refreshers though, but I'm not sure I would ever pay $2 for one of them. From what I heard, they're universally bad.
And ouch... I didn't get soy this time because I needed gas and whenever I get gas, I feel like crying so it makes me try and save money in exchange (even though it's usually futile since I still end up spending way too much money elsewhere anyway) and damn does it work fast. That alone with the fact that caffeine doesn't quite agree with me, makes for an uncomfortable Sherry. But it was so worth it. $2 Starbucks coffee! It's always worth it!
