:(

I had meant to post about it before but on Friday I found out that one of the kids at the school I tutor at was missing.

Today they've found his body.

Damn.

:(

I didn't know the kid -- he was a 9th grader and I work primarily with 10th graders but I know some of the kids I tutor knew him... God, this just sucks. I mean at my high school, we've had deaths before (and we've always joked that every class has to have someone die so they could remember them for air guitar to get the sympathy points) but this is no joke and it's a real damn shame. I feel for his parents and for his classmates... I'm glad I don't have to work on Monday when the kids will all be told about this...

It's selfish, I know but I barely know how to handle this news, much less helping others come to grip with it... I'm just really glad I won't have to step into that school until Thursday.

I don't think it was family realted with the kid who died because I'm pretty sure the parents had no idea what was happening or why at all.

I wish it were safe here... I knew going to NYC for school wouldn't be the brightest idea if I wanted safety and security but it really didn't hit me tha things could actually happen...

Try UofM for grad school. It's safe and it's a decent school (Bwaha, I want to slowly rope my LJ friends into moving close to me), and you know you want to live near the biggest anime store in central US.

I should do homework now. I have so much of it. And it's due tomorrow. One of them's a Japanese paper too. ;_;

ttyl.

UofM for grad school? Is their bio program good? Or their med school?

And I'll let you go now. It's pretty late here and I have an 8 AM class myself...

*blinks* You haven't heard of UofM med school?

Well, let's put it this way.

We're ranked top 10 for medicine, law, and business. We're also ranked number 1 with Berkeley for top public school.

Football aside (never paid attention to that), it's a school a lot of people dream of getting into. I didn't realize how famous it was until I went back to Taiwan and they found out that was the uni I went to. They admire it like they admire Harvard, which I found a bit ridiculous (Harvard was my dream school, whereas UofM was my backup ^^;;;).

I found a link and even I'm impressed. I had no idea. UofM's always been one of those "home state schools" to me.

Hmm...now that I think about it, I think I had a second cousin who transfered from NYU to UofM for med school... I never really paid it too much attention since the area of the US where Michigan is at was never really considered by me.

I think of heard of UofM being a good school before but never anything really specific...
