Don't believe them when they say it's with one person! You'll have at least two professors, if not all four of them. Nonaka is wonderful but she will expect you to know the material but at least she's nice about it and doesn't end up making you feel like an idiot when you blank out.
Try not to get on either Hanawa's or Hulyalkar's bad side. They like to pick on people and they have favorites. And they can be cruel and mean. Hulyalkar will expect you to know everything you learned the day before. You can do that by preparing the day before for their class and believe me, you'll need to do it. Hanawa mellows out after time but I've always gotten the feeling that she tries to weed out the classes in the beginning couple of weeks.
Matsushima is wonderful! She's probably the nicest out of the four but she doesn't teach as well as the other three. Still, she's a nice reprieve from Hanawa (you might have her twice a week) and Hulyalkar.
That's about it... Elementary I isn't so bad and I passed it easily without having to kill myself studying. You do need to keep up but there really aren't that many confusing things about it during Elementary I so I wouldn't worry about it.
