Cheese scones

I think it was my worse experience baking ever. Not even pie crust making was this horrible. Baking utensils I'm buying next? A pastry cutter and a grater. Shaving a block of cheddar with a vegetable peeler isn't exactly easy on your hands. And trying to make a ball of dough out of something dry and crumbly is hell. In the end, I said screw it, and added the rest of the cream I had left and still it wasn't enough. That's when I grabbed a handful of water and it finally came together. My arms are killing me from the cheese and the crazy kneading. Gah, it sucked.
But thank god it was worth it in the end! This time my scones actually rose! Yay! ^^
The cheese in it was amazing... It was so soft and gooey inside where they melted... It was nice and crispy on the outside, soft and warm on the inside -- it was like biting into a Cheez-It cracker into a cloud of cheese. There was a little bit of cayenne added but while it gave the scones a nice little zing, it wasn't really enough. Eating it straight was okay, kinda bland so the first thought I had was that I needed something sweet so I added some jam. That was okay, certainly added a little something more to it but it wasn't enough.
And then by chance, I noticed the extra little packets of Hot Taco Bell sauce and inspiration struck. Yum! They work rather well with cheese, kinda surprising and kinda not. But it was good. I ended up gobbling three and half of them -- the half because at the end, I didn't have enough to make a whole scone so it was just lumped together into a tiny, mini, scone-like thing.
Oh, just a little TV talk now.
I finally got a chance to watch a little of the backlog I have of TV episodes I had saved up. The Amazing Race was partially watched while the scones were baking and my god, the Cowboys are quickly becoming my favorite team. I mean, who would have thought the Cowboys would be good at soccer after not having ever played it before and not be beer drinkers? Out of all of them, I would have thought they would be the ones to be able to down that stuff the easiest. And Joe is a beer drinker? Woah.
And thank god I'm not the only one who hates the taste of beer. Yuck. It really is nasty -- how could anyone be craving it? Is it the addiction thing? I can't imagine any other reason one would voluntarily drink the stuff.
With Chuck -- best episode EVER. I loved it, so very much!!! Morgan finally finds out! I was hoping Ellie would first but this was done so well that I didn't mind. And Jeffster making an appearance singing Fortunate Son by CCR? I really enjoyed it in that they didn't suck! It was an episode made of squee for a Chuck fan and I can't believe I let four days go by without watching it. Ugh, I was an idiot stuck in a HIMYM haze... I'm still being affected though -- I want to rewatch everything... :( (or ^^ depending on mood).
And I watched both the Tonys (ugh...) and the Emmys (smaller ugh...) last night. NPH was amazing, always. The award giving part of the award shows, not so much... The Tonys were like ugh... I've never been the biggest fan of Broadway with only just a passing interest of musical theatre so most of it went above me. And I had to wait until the last couple of minutes to see NPH perform -- and he was awesome!!! ^^ I love that man, I love him so much!
But he was more amazing during the Emmys! I loved the little nod towards Jon Hamm where he was singing about how a woman likeJoan could turn a man straight. And it was so cute how embarrassed Jon Hamm was...
It was crazy impressive how NPH was able to remember all those TV channels. Jeff Probst was right -- that's how you're supposed to host the Emmys! ^^
I just LOVED HIM!!! What else can I watch that has NPH in it? Go back yet again and rerewatch Doogie Howser? I never did get past the first season... But I do have more of a thing for out!NPH so what has he done in the last four years?
Now? What should I watch...House? Castle? Life Unexpected (Portland shout out yo!)?
