I'm jealous, tahini probably isn't as expensive there as it is here... And for tiny jars too! When I saw it was over $10, I completely balked and was like, I can totally make that myself! And I would suspect hummus without tahini would taste different... I've never had it without it so I really wouldn't know but I'm not sure I want to go there either.
And go and make some hummus yourself! It's incredibly cheap and easy! You can totally do it in five minutes if you don't do the tahini yourself. Even then, if you have a food processor, it'll probably go incredibly quickly.
