don't worry about 3rd Ave! I was only upset about getting it because it meant NYU didn't honor my roommate request (cuz I knew beforehand my friend (who's naem is Sherry! sorry again for the confusion) got Weinstein.
It's really close to classes even if it IS further than other dorms..it's still only a 5-10 minute walk at MOST.
And well..if you don't like your roommate, your'e screwed, but when you're placed in an apartment with 4-5 other people, chances are you'll like ONE of them. right? and if not, you can always crash in my room..haha (i'm sure my roommate won't mind)
