Recap of the day:

Finally finished shoveling the driveway. We were working on half of it but I finally finished the other half so now it's all usable. Yay! It only took me like four days to do it. ^^;;;

Almost died today... Well, that is an exaggeration. My senile grandmother decided to boil some water. Except she has dementia so she couldn't remember how to boil water. So she proceeds to fill a tub that's full of rock salt that she found (we use it to de-ice the walkways) with water and spill it all over the floor and counter tops. Had she stopped there, it wouldn't have been so bad but she tried to turn on the stove. We have a gas stove. She does not know how to use a gas stove. Well, she did but apparently, she forgot today. Anyway, she failed to turn it on but she didn't fail to turn the knob so the house filled with natural gas. Nice.

Of course, I freak when I realize it and I start going crazy, opening windows, trying not to get poisoned or accidentally blowing myself and the house up. I don't exactly take stuff like this well so yeah, I said some things I probably shouldn't but damn, it was stupid.

So now I've pulled off all the knobs from the stove. She can't kill us if she can't turn on the gas. We've already childproof the doors, there are night-lights all over the house to light her way when she wanders in the dark (for some reason, she doesn't like turning on lights) at night, and now, no knobs on the stove.

God, she just gets more and more difficult every day...

Now I need a short nap before I completely expire.

:'< *hugs* That sounds really hard to deal with, but it's so kind of your family to keep trying and working with her rather than putting her in assisted living. Shikari ...

Thanks... I think it's because we're Asian that we can't put her in a retirement home or something like that... It would be easier on us and there are many times a day where I wish she was just gone but in the end, we just can't do it. Plus, since she's really old (she turns 90 in two months), and doesn't speak any English, and is very Chinese (distrusts white people, won't eat any Westernized food), we're very much aware of the fact that she would be miserable there and would probably end up slowly dying if we ever did it. :(
