Wow.
Everyone knows I'm a big gymnastic fan and that I try not to miss any of the gymnastic events. I just saw the best high bar performance ever. Aleksei Nemova of Russia. That was incredible! So what if he couldn't stick the landing? Those releases were beautiful! Look at those ariel acrobatics! Wow! That's just a great routine.
What was so funny was the reaction he got from the audience after his score was announced -- they booed loud and hard and for so freaking long. It was hilarious! I was laughing my head off. Those judges got what they deserved. How dare that Canadian and that Malaysian judge freaking give him 9.6!!! He was so robbed! Even I thought he should have gotten the highest score.
The audience went for so long and were so effective that the judges changed the score! And still he gets a score lower than the first two people (Isao Yaneda and Morgan Hamm)!!! How fucking right is that?
And then Paul Hamm went... He was so not as good as Nemova and he gets a 9.812? Ugh! I just don't understand the scoring of these of games. They're so fucking whacked this Olympic year...
I loved how Paul looked when he was standing amidst the screaming and yelling and booing when he was supposed to go. And he couldn't, not until Nemova stepped up to try and calm the audience...
But I did feel really bad that Paul was booed so bad when he got the highest score. It was bad but still, I didn't want him to be that bruised...
And then I saw Igor Cassina of Italy go. Wow. He's just as good as Nemova! And his score tied Paul's! It felt like the first rightful score of the entire competition.
Then the South Korean screwed up and that other guy who was supposed to be very good too.
So it ends up being:
Igor Cassina - Gold
Paul Hamm - Silver (tied with Igor Cassina)
Isao Yaneda - Bronze (tied with Morgan Hamm)
So during high bar, there were two ties, two desputed scores and a hell of a night. Personally I think it should have been like this:
Aleksei Nemova - Gold
Igor Cassina - Silver
Paul Hamm - Bronze
Cassina and Nemova could be reversed. They were that good. But I liked Nemova so much! I can't help but feel like he was robbed at these games... I mean he didn't even get a medal! That performance deserved at least one.
Those Olympic judges better get their act together by Beijing or else I'm going even more pissed. I'll join in on all that booing. Hmph!
Sidenote: This is the best damn song ever!
