Quick Blog and Review
Jan. 10th, 2004 05:14 pmYo!
This is going to be very quick since I only have three mins. until 5. Anyway, I was very close to killing myself today. I was stuck waitressing at the restaurant for the last five hours and with Daddy PMSing (even though he's a guy, he was so there) and Grandma totally useless and the lack of things to do (I read an ENTIRE newspaper -- the horror!) I was so bloody bored. There was like two tables -- three dollars all together. What a sucky day. But I did get a bunch of anime from Nadine and I am here so hey, it's not that bad.
And I finished Tenimyu by downloading the Interviews clip today. I will read it. I also finished downloading The Beginning, Kimeru's first album. Anyway here's a short review:
Track One: Decide ~first gate~
This is a weird track. The English words (I decide to be a star) annoys me but since it's so upbeat and kinda gutsy, I like it. It definitely sounds like Kimeru. It's not a bad track but there are better out there. I like listening to it though.
Track Two: You Got Game
Love this song! This was my favorite ending and my favorite theme for a long time (until Make You Free). After seeing Tenimyu, I just loved it even more. Perfect song for a sports related anime and definitely a great song as it is.
Track Two: Feel My Soul
When I first heard this, it was so familiar. I knew I knew it from somewhere but I couldn't pinpoint it. It wasn't until today that I found out it was on Fuji's album Eyes. It's such a great song. I didn't like it that much when Kaida Yuki sang it but with Kimeru's destinctive male twist, it sounds more natural and is definitely a much better song. It is easily my second (I'm a bit tentative in saying this since it's bordering on my first) favorite song on this album. Make You Free and You Got Game don't count since I've heard them so many times.
Track Four: Endless Pain
I waited a bit to download this song because I wasn't in the mood for a depressing song and with a name like Endless Pain, this song screamed "depressive". So I was incredibly surprised that this song was probably the best out of Kimeru's song. It's slow, but not too slow. Kimeru's soft voice is just crooning to you and you can just feel the pain and the emotions in this song. It's a bit sad but it's in a good way. Of all the songs, this is my favorite. The chorus is just soulful and it highlights Kimeru's voice in the best possible way.
Track Five: Make You Free
This song is my favorite of all the themes. It's my favoirte OP theme and my fav. ED theme is You Got Game. It's funny how they both ended up being Kimeru songs... Anyway, I still love this song but I discounted this song and You Got Game because while I love the songs, these songs are a bit old and I'm too familiar with them to be sensational enough for me to rank them in this album. But I will forever love this song.
Track Six: Key of Life
Another weird song. It's uplifting, definitely but the English words are a bit hard to understand and thus a bit annoying. I was a bit disappointed with this song. It was recommended by Becky Marie and I thought I would like it a lot more than I did...
Track Seven: Song For You
This is the last track on Kimeru's album. It's a remix version of it so it's a bit different than the original version. The first version was pretty annoying but I liked it a lot more than this one. This version of the song is a lot slower, more techno than anything and is just harder to listen to. While I don't hate, I don't think I would ever voluntarily listen to it because I like it. My favorite part of the song wasn't as butchered as I thought it would be but then again, the original is better.
I've got to go now. It's almost 5:15 and I'm late. Off to watch anime and to watch the Interviews clip! Hopefully it's not too boring but I don't expect it to be...hopefully. I don't know. But anyway, all I want to see is Moriyama Eiji's *pnish* no Moriyama Eiji desu!
