Of Green Tea Pocky
Jan. 27th, 2006 02:36 pmI just spent the last two hours running around from place to place trying to find Green Tea Pocky for Fran. It has really disappeared off of the face of the Earth!
I bought some before for Masha at Pica Pica, the Japanese goods outlet store on Fulton, just a couple blocks away from my dorm. They didn't have any. So I walked back to my dorm and was lucky enough to catch the next bus to campus. I figure, hey, I'll just go up to the Sunset Market, a Japanese market (one of the few in New York City) over at Saint Marks (where all the Japanese people hang out and a few Japanese tourists once called "Little Tokyo") where they have this nice little Pocky section with all the varieties of Pocky you could ever want (like banana!) but they didn't have it either. I was so disappointed! I did however did get some Custard Fondu and Whipped Chocolate Pocky though. And some frozen takoyaki. ^^
So as a last resort, I thought I'd head over to my old stomping grounds, another Asian supermarket/store, M2M, which was conveniently next to my old dorm.
Alas, M2M didn't have it either! Like the Sunset Market, they had a pretty good selection of Pocky but NO GREEN TEA.
I'm sorry Fran! I thought I would be able to get you some because I had bought some before at Pica Pica and had seen some over at Sunset, but both of them don't carry it any more! :( It has really disappeared off the face of the Earth. I think the gods don't want you to have Green Tea Pocky...
I think Anime-Castle carries some, but I won't be going up to Queens for at least a month or two so I won't be able to get you some from there... But the next time I do go, I'll think of you, and try to pick you up some then...
Sorry, I got your hopes up... :( I did get you some Hichews to make up for it. I didn't know what flavors you like so I got you three different ones (strawberry, yogurt, and apple). I almost bought you some green tea gummies but I wasn't sure if you liked gummies... :\
*sigh* Who would have thought finding Green Tea Pocky is so hard? I wonder if some of the Chinatown markets would carry them? I'm going this weekend (Chinese New Year!!!), so I'll check a few of them out then too.
But it wasn't totally wasted. I did get some Boursin at the cheese shop near my old dorm (since I was in the area) for their incredibly cheap price of $1.50 per box! I love them for selling it so cheap! Those boxes go for like $6.00-7.00 at home and in other supermarkets around here so $1.50 is definitely a deal! :)
I adore Boursin if you all didn't know. ^^
