Today I had cake. ^^
It was the last day of Sounds and my professor bought us cakes from Rocco's Pastry Shop & Espresso Cafe.
For those who don't know, that place is pretty famous around here and their cakes pretty up there in price. But since it was a small class, the Music department decide it would be okay to fund us a party day on our last day of classes! It was such a blast from the past! I mean it felt like high school all over again -- party on the last day of class!
So yeah, we played Karaoke Revolution and we ate cake. Their Oreo Cheesecake -- OMG, it's sooooo good! I want to bring one home to Diana-chan because I know she'll just adore it. Really, the most delicious thing ever. You wouldn't think Oreos would go well with cheesecake but it's so very delicious. There was also a rasberry cheesecake that I didn't try, a Chocolate Blackout Cake with some rather nasty frosting and a normal Chocolate Layer Cake that probably would have tasted better than the Blackout Cake... I don't know why but it was just weird tasting...like it had some weird liqueur... I haven't had it before, but so maybe it was supposed to taste like that but it just wasn't for me. I just wish I had gotten more of the Oreo Cheesecake...
Anyway, our professor had the word "Sounds" written on it and we were like "Awww!!!" He told us the story about how he was at the bakery and he asked the woman if they wrote on their cakes and how she was like "Wha...???" when he asked if he could have "Sounds" written on it. I thought it was rather cute! He really is a cute little professor though. A bit of a hardass but cute nonetheless. ^^
I was really disappointed though... We didn't clap for him! I thought it was especially weird in a class about sounds, we couldn't even do that much, even though it was half expected. I kept waiting for the moment where we could clap for him but... We clapped for Talia, our TA but not him? :(
It's so ironic because we were talking about how individuals didn't want to announce their presence sonically and this is such a prime example of it! And since it relates to the class, I thought about emailing him because there's no way I could go up to him... But I'm scared... He knows me as "the one girl who's into Japanese stuff" because my journal papers are on it and my second paper was on Shuuji to Akira so... And I think he somehow knows my name which made me go "OMG, WTF?!" one day in class when he said "Hi, Sherry" to me as I walked in... I didn't even know he knew my existance... And there was that one time where I ran into him at Space Market as he was getting tea and I was getting my daily dose of hazelnut coffee doctored with half & half and about half the weight of the actual coffee in sugar... :\ He was like "hi!" and I'm like "why are you here in my personal domain?!" I imagine I must have looked rather funny, being all wide-eyed and eeking out a measly "hi..."
LOL, god, I'm so pathetic when it comes to authority figures.
I don't know if I'll email him though... It's kinda late now... :\
Oh! I was able to sign up for an experiment! Yes! All this year, I've been blocked by all the fast people who seem to check their emails every half hour but I finally got to one! Hopefully I'll make more than $10... I need some extra cash... I want sushi but I also want to be able to take a cab to LGA if I need to and it's not cheap taking a cab out to Queens...
Wait, I need to book a SuperShuttle ride... Will do that later today...
Okay, some songs because I'm feeling awfully random and good about the world. ^^
Hashimoto Miyuki - screaming
Hashimoto Miyuki - dust trail
screaming is the OP to SOUL LINK while dust trail is the ED to it. I am absolutely adoring this anime! I've talked about it a few times in the past, but definitely I'm liking it. Today's release of episode five had me a bit sad though -- Kazuhiko had three kills while Ryota is like this scared little boy! And there's more action between Ryota's brother and Kazuhiko than Ryota himself... :( At this rate, how will my beloved Kazuhiko get together with his perfect uke Ryota?! And I don't want Ryota to be a total wimp! From the training exercises, he's not all that bad with a gun so he does have skills. I mean Kazuhiko shot a man point-blank in the head (why his head didn't totally blow up is beyond me because techically at that range...eh, well, it is anime...blood is one thing but brain and skull fragments are probably other things altogether), Ryota should have been able to protect himself at least. :\
Anyway, I'm really adoring the songs! I love the image that "hoshi no umi ni hatenaku kiete \ wasurerate yuku tomoshibi ni mo" creates! Well, really, I just love the idea of a sea of stars... LOL, I'm so superficial. But really, it's an amazing song and of all the new animes this season, this anime's OP and ED were the ones I was looking most foward to aquiring. dust trail starts off so well with some really wonderful eletric guitar and drum work and since I adore the guitar and the drums, I was like "!!!" And the voice is like woah too. Such a sweet, beautiful voice.
That being said, go and try them out!
One last thing. I've noticed something about the songs I like from ASIAN KUNG-FU GENERATION songs that I like... They alll are basically the same sound! Like the one I'm currently crushing on -- Sakaurasou -- it is so reminiscent of the other other AKFG songs that I've like before... There is one distinct moment that I just adore at 1:18... I do love it when they slow things down a bit, lower the instruments and focus on the voice more before charging right back into the song.
Anyway, see what I mean:
ASIAN KUNG-FU GENERATION - Sakurasou
Okay, I am off to watch the last episode of Ueki! It's been a wild ride and I can't wait to see how it wraps up! ^^
Wait, Diana-chan, want the PV to Kimi to Iu Hana? I just got it and I can upload! ^^
