Ah, my first meal made by me! Kinda of...
Sep. 2nd, 2006 08:45 pmWell I cooked today! Well actually, I just made some really soggy rice (I always seem to forget the correct water to rice ratio over the summer...every year too...) and steamed some of the food that my mother sent along with me. It was goodish... That and a bottle of water is a meal.
I had planned on getting some groceries today (eggs, bread, lettuce, lunch meat, basically sandwich materials) but it's been pouring since I've been awake so I nixed that idea. I just bought shoes to withstand the rain yesterday -- I don't want to ruin them on the first day I wear them. That and I really hate being wet and cold. So yeah, no groceries yet. It's okay, I won't die if I can't make sandwiches and have eggs.
Last night as I laid in bed listening on my iPod, one of the songs from my one Ellegarden album came on and it was wonderful! It was the first song on Ellegarden's first album Don't Trust Anyone But Us called "My Favorite Song" and it just resonated with the way I feel most of the time. I love the line "All I wanna do is to be with my favorite things, my favorite song, my favorite TV shows are never ending, my favorite books, my favorite radio shows will never die." I feel like that all the time -- all I want to do is nothing, surround by the stuff I like.
Anyway, Ellegarden's sound is exactly my type of music -- rockish, punky, strong backing tracks, good vocals and lyrics. The main vocalist sings surprisingly a lot in English. Most of the stuff that I have, I would say is completely in English. It's only slightly noticeable that this guy is Japanese because his pronunciation is just so good. I Definitely like listening to him.
Anyway, I've uploaded some of my favorite songs thus far. Since last night, I've gone on an Ellegarden downloading spree, grabbing anything I can get from them.
Ellegarden - My Favorite Song
Ellegarden - Bare Foot (also on the Don't Trust Anyone But Us album)
Ellegarden - Stereoman (on the Asian Kung-Fu Generation's Nano Mugen Compilation 2006 album as well as their own Space Sonic single -- their latest stuff. You can really tell that his English has gotten much better from the first album in this song. It reminds me a bit of "My Favorite Song" in that it has a theme along the same lines. Definitely my favorite of his late single.
