Kimeru's 君じゃなきゃダメなんだ
Aug. 11th, 2007 06:08 amWell, I got my single today but I'm not quite sure I like it. I've listened to both tracks a couple of times but I'm still on the fence as to how I feel about it. Like always, the second track appealed to me a bit more than the first with the first impression. When I had first read through the translation of "君じゃなきゃダメなんだ," I seriously expected something different. Maybe something with a harder edge. But 君じゃなきゃダメなんだ is typical Kimeru fare. As if to compound it, the PV, for the first time, failed to captivate me. I've only watched it once so maybe a few more times through would make it seem better?
Anyway, I think part of the reason I was a bit disappointed this time around was that I was expecting something with a bit more tension, a bit darker... Oh, how I would love to see Kimeru do something along those lines! I can't say it was bad, but I can't say I liked it either. It's like, I've heard it before, and I've heard it before from Kimeru.
Well, at least one song saved the track for me. I really like "All the time." Part of the reason is that it is a ballad and I've always had a soft spot for Kimeru's ballads. His songs are usually so fast and energetic that I crave anything that's just a bit different so when he slows it down for a ballad, injects a bit of the softer emotions into his songs, I swoon. Of course, I do love it when he's all angsty and emo but it's been a while since I got a song that really conveyed that feeling from him... I sure as hell wouldn't mind one of those one of these days...
The PV for 君じゃなきゃダメなんだ was...different. I distinctly got the feeling that he was acting a bit off-kilter but it might just be that he's trying more for "lost and crazy in love" than he is just for plain "crazy." Usually, if a track doesn't get me into the song, then the PV will. But his PV still ended up making me feel indifferent towards it.
Maybe I just need to listen to it a few more times? I'm currently devouring "All the time" and it's made me want to try going back to sleep with it playing in the background. It's such a peaceful and calm song that I want to bathed in its serenity...
Gah, someone on the
newyorkers is looking for knishes and I'm starting to get hungry... So, I think we have muffins downstairs and bean and cheese burritos. And Jarritos. But if I have a Jarritos, I'll have to eat a burrito because I really don't think the chocolate chip muffins would go with it very well...
Yay! Apparently we have some Oatmeal Raisin cookies as well. They're the Franz kind, so they're the soft and chewy ones and they're my absolute favorites out there on the market today. I don't know if they exist elsewhere in the United States since Franz is a Northwest company but I've been eating their products since I was a little girl. I remember going to their bakeries with my mother as she would buy bread and other yummy baked goods. And they would sneak in something extra if you bought a certain amount of bread as well. Ah, good memories...
Oh, before I forget, downloads! I may not have adored 君じゃなきゃダメなんだ but I certainly didn't feel as if it failed as a single. And if anything, I did love "All the time" but you might want to reserve your own judgment.
