I just checked out my required book list for the new semester and Japanese wins with five required books totaling about $400. *dies* As far as I can tell, there's two Japanese dictionaries, one Japanese-English dictionary and two grammar dictionaries. Tell me, is that really necessary? I can understand one Japanese dictionary and I can understand a Japanese-English dictionary to go along with it because they're two different things. And since we don't have a textbook, a Japanese grammar book would make sense. But seriously, two grammar books and two Japanese dictionaries? Is that really necessary?
And oh my god, they're expensive! That one class costs more than any of my other courses combined. I'm going to try and cut costs by not buying any of the books for my computer class unless absolutely necessary. The syllabus promises online resources and I'm fine with that if I can cut about $150 off. I'm sad because of it because I would have really liked the Dreamweaver book and the Photoshop one... :( But I don't think I'm going to have much trouble with either Word or Excel and I really doubt I want a book about the Mac OS X. I mean, I don't even have Mac. So we'll be working on Macs during the course. As long as it's not specific to Macs, I'm cool with it.
The book on for my Microbiology course is expensive but I expected it to be. And Immunity (yes, I caved and decided a one day a week course with no recitation, even if it's at 8 AM would be better for me than a night course that promises to be too much trouble than it's worth) is not so bad. I heard good things about the course so hopefully it won't be too bad.
Hmm... Where exactly is the CIWW building? What building is that? I have to get from CIWW to 194 Mercer in fifteen minutes so hopefully it'll be okay. Oh, it's the Courant building. Okay, that's not so bad. It's almost a hop, a jump and a skip away.
Hmm, this makes me curious about my final exams... Let see... Computers is on Dec. 12 from 8 AM to 9:50 (yuck!). Here's to hoping for a computer project that I can hand in at my leisure... :\ Micro is on Dec. 17 from 10 AM to 11:50. Not too bad. Damn, Immunology conflicts with the Computer class. Wow, three years at NYU and this is the first time this has happen. Here's to hoping that there's definitely a computer project to hand in before or after, not during that final exam time. Or maybe Immunology will have their exam at a different time? And I have no idea about Japanese but since they don't play by normal schedules... If they were, I guess it would be on December 20 from 4 PM to 5:50 PM but I'm going to doubt that. I mean the department seems to like shoving twelve hundred exams on us from listening to orals to two part written exams that lasts days rather than that one period on that one day it's supposed to be scheduled for. I just hope it won't be too bad... :\
Hey, they don't have finals on Friday! Well, except for the poor Chem people but I'm not taking Chem... Damn, I should have checked the schedule. I could have flown out on Friday! Okay, am just a little upset by that now. :\
