Of all the days!
Nov. 1st, 2007 04:47 pmSo...my Japanese class got cancelled. We only realized that at 4 PM, half an hour after the class started that no one was there but me and Erika. *head hits desk* We suck. To be fair, we were both there 30 minutes early and since we were the only ones there, we started up talking about Japanese, how much we both suck and know nothing and what we though the article was maybe about. And we talked about our experiences in high school, how we were all pretty much social outcasts... But it was cool and fun and frankly, it's one of the first times this year that I don't feel so isolated in that class... There are a lot of new people and the people I did know seem to have grouped up into groups that lack me so I've been feeling a little left out.
Anyway, we talked and talked and then suddenly Erika realized that no one was there and that we should have started class. I look at my watch for the first time and it's like 4 PM! And we both freaked because the class starts at 3:30 PM, no one was there waiting with us. We had this oh my god moment where we thought they might have already been having class in the room (the door was closed) and we peeked in but there was nobody. So then we both quickly picked up all our stuff and rushed down to the lobby to check our emails because there had to be a reason why no one was there.
Apparently Hanawa got sick and sent us all an email at 10:50 AM to tell us class was cancelled. Wonderful. I could have taken a nap that was sorely needed! :( I wasted so much time today because of that. Still, thinking back on it, I probably wouldn't take it back since it allowed me to finally connect to a human being in my Japanese class... It's a bit pathetic ut I'll take what I can.
So, today... abstract, writing my Japanese essay on The Little Prince by Saint-Exupery. I have the French original translation at home but I went and bought the actual English translation today since it's been like five years since I last read it and that was in French too. So yeah, I'm a bit rusty in my Little Prince knowledge. What else? Get enough sleep, study for upcoming exams, that sort of thing.
Oh, thought I might mention, I had Bun Bo Xue today... They have those scary, thick white noodles! Diana! You could have warned me! The soup was okay, the meat, well, could have done with a bit more but overall not bad. Tomorrow I might try Cong Ly who supposedly has the best Bun Bo Xue (for just under $5 if I remember correctly) in Chinatown. And get me a takeaway order of Bahn Hoi Thit Heo Nuong. I found out that it's just a it more tasty than Bun Thit Nuong. I'm not sure if it's $3 more tasty, but until I have multiple versions of it at different restaurants, I don't think I can make that distinction yet. At Doyers though, definitely it makes a difference since they have more veggies in that one and I like my veggies. ^^
