Mashed potatoes goodness!
Feb. 3rd, 2008 08:06 pmToday I made mashed potatoes from scratch for the first time! It so easy! And yummy! I didn't know what to make for dinner today and I didn't have much of an appetite so I decided to make something simple. And for the first time, I bought myself some red potatoes, one of the best potatoes to make mashed potatoes with. I typically by Eastern potatoes which are more suited for scalloped potatoes than it is for mashing.
Today I made garlic mashed potatoes with parmesan cheese. I fudged the recipe I had because I didn't want to make enough for six people and I added some ground pepper and a couple more cloves of garlic... One can never get enough garlic! The recipe used milk but I had half and half instead and I didn't have butter either so I used margarine... :\ And because I love cheese, I tossed in a handful of the shredded three cheeses I have making one really awesome mashed potato dish. It's sooo good... Although, I was surprised by how much salt I had to add to it... It just wasn't salty enough no matter how much I added. Now it's absolutely perfect, even if it's a bit cold now. This is definitely a recipe I'll be making again. I also made "Sei Mei Tong," the four flavor soup that I absolutely love so later tonight, I'll have soup as well. ^^
So, the Super Bowl is on TV. I'm not really watching it, just turning it on every once in a while to check the score. It's still 3-7 Patriots, which is a bit surprising.... I thought the Patriots would lead by more by now. I would probably be watching it whole-heartedly (well, as whole hearted as someone who isn't into football would watch it) if I weren't watching Rosario + Vampire. It's interesting but it could be better with a little less panty-flashing. I hate it when animes do that. It's just so blatant that they're trying to appeal to a guy.
Anyway, it's been a very lazy day... I should do my laundry but I can't make myself to go and do it. That and Japanese. I'm reading through all the little descriptions from Tawada Yoko's "電車の中で読書する人" (gah, I have to go and figure out how to type in Japanese on Vista... Copying and pasting is just not cool or fun) so I won't stumble in class but I should work on my little descriptions. The problem is I am not the most observant person so this is really hard for me... And my professor wants these little observations to be short and compact... Gah, this is impossible. I have until Wednesday to do five of them but I can't even come up with one! T_T
