I'm registered in New York, because a pushy guy forced me to change my address to vote for the primaries... I was so thrown by him that I forgot that it didn't matter whether or not I was in Oregon to vote in the primaries or not. Oregon is one of the few states (if not the only state) to completely use mail in ballots. We don't have those voting machine thingies, but I've been informed by Holly, a fellow America Reads Tutor at UNHS that that's really how most of the states do things. So today will be my first chance to use them. Hopefully it'll be relatively simple enough...

I thought about skipping it, going after work, going before work... But I woke up today totally unwilling to get up even though my body was protesting sleeping any longer so by the time I did pull myself up off of bed, it was rather late. I wasn't feeling hungry at all so I forced myself to eat something since I have to go to work and all. So I made myself some eggs...

Gah, now I have to leave in a few minutes... Anyway, back to the original topic, voting day. I'm going to vote after work! Apparently the voting places are open to 9 PM so there's plenty of time to vote after work. I'm going to go and buy some Chinese groceries (only three, I'm limiting myself so I won't go out of control with spending money -- I just had a horrible dream where I wasted a ton of money on candy and it freaked me out a bit), come home and go and vote. Hopefully it'll go smoothly... I'm a bit apprehensive since it's my first time... God, I miss mail in ballots. Those are so much easier... I'm going to switch back to Oregon after this.

Voted!

I've just gone and done my civic duty and voted! I was a bit old fashioned and very low-tech, something that surprised me a bit. But it was very easy and fast -- I was in and out in five minutes. It helped that I knew who I was voting for and the fact that there wasn't a line at all... In fact, I think there was only one other person in ahead of me who was voting... There were two Republicans behind me though... >< Republicans in New York, it seems almost wrong.

I was happy that my voting place was right down the block and I was able to find it easily. That made it perfect for me. In fact, I can see it from my window so I knew where to go before I even went there (even though I did look it up on MapQuest too... ^^;;;).

Still, it was really nice to vote! I voted for Obama, of course. We are deep in Clinton territory with it being New York and all but it would be neat if Obama could take New York. I'm so charged by voting, I love the feeling it gives me. I haven't had this feeling since the first time I voted in a Presidential election. For some reason, paper mail in ballots just don't cut it and give me the same sort of feeling.

I shall be watching the TV tonight... This is going to make and break it and I hope it'll be Obama when it's all said and done. Go Obama!

Anyway, today was the ticket tape parade for the Giants... I'm so disappointed that I had to miss it! I really wanted to go but I had work... But while I was at work, I couldn't help but think that today would have been the perfect day to skip because I did nothing constructive... Two of my classes watched a movie, the other one took a test in which I wasn't allowed to help any of them on because it was to gauge their level.

And because of that, I think I will go and skip on Thursday. It's the day of the Chinese New Year celebration in Chinatown and I had wanted to go but it was during work so... But this will be my last one in New York for a while and I want to take some awesome pictures. I think that's what I will do. Hopefully the weather will be nice.
