I hate it when people use NYU in their fanfics. I absolutely HATE it. They inevitably get it wrong because NYU is a very urban university. I mean they think we have a campus and frat parties and grass of all things. It takes everything I have not to go and review them telling them everything they got wrong, wrong, wrong (channeling McKay here) about it.
I would say NYU has a bunch of buildings somewhat grouped together proximally to form a somewhat "campus" area (for the most part, there are a few of them that are way out there). And I would say our Greek life sucks. In fact, in all the time I've been at NYU, I've only met two people who actually did that sort of stuff. I've heard of some of their floors but I'm pretty sure they don't have frat parties up there. I mean, it's hard getting into the dorms if you don't live there. And why would you go there to party when you can go to a bar or a club? It is New York City after all...
As for grass, it's a city. We have a park but it's unlike what I would call as park since they're basically fenced off with walk paths and benches... While it is somewhat possible for a group of students to be standing on a patch of grass on campus at NYU providing they all climbed over those metal bars in Washington Square Park, I would think it's much more likely to find a group of students hanging around Gould Plaza. Or just on the sidewalk in front of our many buildings.
Ugh, the fic is just ruined for me now. I don't think I can read it anymore without obsessing over the little details... If only it wasn't NYU and just a made up college! I hate being nitpicky but every time I see something incorrect, an alarm lights up in my brain and I can't help but dwell on it. Oh well, on to the next story then...
Oh, and CNBC, you scare me. Why do I even watch the Squawkbox...?

I had been pretty dissatisfied with my download speeds of late so after messing around with the router's wireless settings tonight, I managed to increase my speeds by like a ton! I had been getting around 1100 Kb/s when it was good but most of the time it was around 300-400 Kb/s and at worst around 100 Kb/s. It made me upset, really, really upset because I know we have a 5 Mbps internet connection but we only get those kinds of speeds while wired. And what is the point of having a wireless router if we need to be wired? I mean, I knew being on wireless meant slower speeds but I never thought it would that slow, you know?
So I looked up some stuff online (thank you Google!), changed the channel (since there were like two other devices on that channel) to avoid interference, changed the transmission rate and now I'm up to around 2000 Kb/s! What a major change! Yay to being able to stream videos without it stuttering on me! ^^ Seriously, I don't know why I didn't do this before. Right now I'm having a field day just testing my speeds because it's been so long since I saw speeds like that on wireless. I have this, OMG, it's so beautiful feeling right now. :)
