I think I'm emerging victorious in my battle with the Sims 3. More or less anyway.

I got all my store files to show up along with all my custom content. And it doesn't ask me to insert the DVD for it to play anymore either which is very good. That took me a while but I think I figured it out. Not only that, but my Launcher isn't broken anymore! Yay! I can't use it to install anything anymore but it's nice to not have it go spastic on me every time I open it. I still haven't updated to the latest version yet and I think I'm going to end up holding off on it for a while yet...

And I found myself a semi-guide on installing everything. Of course, it had to be when I was pretty much done with everything but I'm hoping it'll show me what to do with my Riverview problems... I thought everything was okay, I moved all the files like I was supposed to and all that but I think something is corrupted... :( So I'm redownloading it, hoping everything about it works again. I actually play Riverview more often than I do Sunset Valley so it's pretty essential that I have it.

It pretty much was an all day affair... But now that I've done it all and have had more or less success (I can still play Riverview and I'm pretty sure Sunset Valley works without a hitch, but I'm nitpicky so I want everything to be perfect), I feel good about it all. It was frustrating and annoying and hard, but now if anyone else needs help, I'm pretty sure I can walk them through it all.

And it wasn't a totally wasted day. In between downloads, I was able to revisit old West Wing episodes (I do love Rob Lowe's Sam Seaborn so very much -- I'm going to miss him in B&S, even if he's a Republican in that show). And I listened to my new favorite Porno Graffitti song, Voice. My favorite part starts around 2:47 and I have no idea what it's saying but one of these days I'm just going to sit down and try my hand at translating it.

It's strange... I've had this song downloaded for years but hadn't really listened to it much. But just the other day I was listening on my iPod and it came up on shuffle and I thought to myself, this song is pretty cool. It has the feeling that whatever its lyrics are, they're pretty awesome and powerful which always appeals to me. *shrugs* I guess it just happens like that.

Okay, off to see if the new download of the Riverview.world file fixes all my problems. *crosses fingers*

edit x1: Maybe I need to delete the cache files? God, I hope so... I'm running out of ideas here...

edit x2: I give up.

Success! I think.

I ended up having to extract Riverview into what seems like a billion .package files and inserted them into my Mods folder. A quick check told me that Riverview is back as it should be, no weird names for lots, no weird numbered description, everything is as it should be. Now I'm wondering if I should just go and run it through the Compressorizor and then make a .dbc file of it all... It's supposed to speed things up apparently but truthfully I didn't notice much of a lag... But then, I don't have hundreds of .package files like some people either...

Ah, well, whatever, I'm just happy it seems to work again and that everything seems fine. I have yet to play any of my old saves or even a new game -- just looked around checking to make sure everything that was wrong looked as it should.

Today has been a very productive day though! I fixed our Charter online account so I could actually access it for once. It only took me about...three years to actually do it. But Kent wanted to watch live curling so I went and got access again. And I don't blame him -- curling is surprisingly strategic and fun to watch! I mean, one minute it's like midnight and you're flipping through the channels and you land on either MSNB or CNBC and curling's on. And the next thing you know, you've spent the last couple of hours watching.

Also, today, I made quick run to the supermarket and bought myself some vanilla ice cream, heavy whipping cream and a pound of sharp cheddar cheese. Also, GIRL SCOUT COOKIES.

I have been stalking the Girl Scout cookies website for MONTHS trying to figure out when my local troop(s) will be selling these delectable morsels. And finally, I found out they were going to be at Safeway this weekend and next (just in case I eat it all now and cave and must get more) so I went and bought myself three boxes.

I was showing restraint, I really was. But at $4 a box, ouch. They were cheaper in NYC (marginally, but still a little cheaper)! Anyway, I had the greatest idea -- mix the Samoas cookies I bought with the carton of Dreyer's Samaos Ice Cream I bought that already had Samoas cookies broken up in it! Brilliant, no?

The vanilla ice cream I bought is for am impending batch of apple crisps/crumble that I'm planning to make and the cream and cheese are both for scones! Regular scones and cheese scones! I still have that tiny jar of Double Devon Cream (the closest thing I could find to clotted cream T_T) and another jar of jam just waiting for an afternoon tea. ^^

Oh! Maybe I should add the apple crisp on to the snack as well! Have it all in one go. Although, I don't think they mix well... :\

And I'm excited about tonight! B&S returns!!! Double hurrah! And the Amazing Race! TV is back, once again! *huge sigh*

Life is good today. ^^
