I've missed that from The West Wing... Although, with The West Wing, it was much more blatant and it resonated with my own liberalism but you get these moments in Boston Legal where Alan makes absolute sense and you get the feeling of self-righteous arrogance that Left-wing liberals are known for. It's absolutely wonderful.
