Aug. 31st, 2010 06:14 amI don't know how, but somehow I started translating and I just couldn't stop... I ended up doing wayyyy more than I intended... Instead of just finishing up chapter 11 of Hanagata, I ended up doing most of chapter 12 as well... In fact, if I wanted to, I could probably finish it off now... But gah, my head is like dead... Too much translating...
But damn if Reiji doesn't come off as a more sympathetic character... I was so set on hating him but one can understand the frustration of being under a natural genius and always coming up second best... I just wish I had a good enough vocabulary to do him and this manga justice... I still feel like I'm too literal and still too stilted... *sigh* And when I try to make it flow better, I wonder if I'm not straying too far from the actual direct translation and whether or not I'm taking too many liberties with it (and with it, a loss of nuance)...
