Feb. 25th, 2011 08:53 amSo, it's been over a week since I first caught my cold. And I'm pretty sure I got over it a few days ago.
But my nose is still stuffed up and I'm horribly congested. Not only that, but I have a nasty post-nasal drip problem that is causing much difficulties... I suspect I've gotten sinusitis from a sinus infection right after my cold. Not fun, not fun at all... I have so much thick mucus sliding down my throat and it's uncomfortable and I feel like I'm choking on it... :(
It got so bad yesterday, I was actually on the verge of throwing up because it was attacking my gag reflex like a vengeance. I was dry heaving but it got so close to actual vomiting that I could feel stomach acid burning my throat... It was only out of sheer will power that stopped it before I started spewing.
They say it'll take up to 10 days to clear and by my count, today is day four. And they say the best sort of medicine for this sort of thing to alleviate the symptoms are decongestants like Sudafed. Yeah, Oregon happens to be one of two states in America that requires a doctor's prescription to get real Sudafed. And nasal decongestants scare the hell out of me... I've never sprayed anything up my nose before and I'm not sure I want to any time soon.
But for now, I'm keeping myself hydrated since I heard it would make the mucus less thick. And I'm blowing my nose as often as I can... Less mucus in my nose is less to slide down my throat. It's making my nose rather sore and dry but after the vomit scare, I think I'll take it. But I'm definitely hoping that this resolves itself quickly and doesn't start to linger for months on end because that would definitely suck.
