Broke out my old CD binder today while I was looking for my old BBMak CD and I decided to take out some of my old favorites. Right now I'm listening to Savage Garden's Hold Me which the name didn't do anything for me. But once the chorus started, I found myself able to sing along to it... My god, how many times did I listen to this CD that I can still remember the lyrics of an obscure song that wasn't even one of my favorites over a decade later? And I was surprised -- I actually have the first Savage Garden CD! This is extremely shocking to me since back then, I didn't buy that many CDs (actually, never have aside from my obsessive need to collect all of Kimeru's) and usually I would have one CD from a group, if that. I got into downloading music really early (I was using Napster back before it got sued) so buying CDs never was my thing, you know? Case in point, I bought Sooner or Later but downloaded Into Your Head. Like that.

Anyway, I was feeling nostalgic lately and I wanted to listen to Back Here, one of my favorite BBMak songs... Ah, BBMak... God, I had such a crush on their cute accents... I even willingly watched Even Stevens for them (I had an irrational hate for Shia LaBeouf that only lessened with Holes -- and that was because of the awesomeness of Holes).

God, I had some weird CDs... Spice Girls, S Club 7, BBMak... I think my angophila was going strong back then... I do have one Backstreet Boys CD, the Black and Blue album but I kinda wish I had Millennium which had a ton of my favorite songs of theirs... In fact, when I think of the BSB in their heyday, I think of the songs from that album. It's silly but I still smile when I hear one of their songs... To me, they represented my childhood, my girlhood, a pure sort of happiness and joy that is hard to recreate. I hate such a crush on so many of these pop stars. I got into music late. Most people, they're listening to pop songs in elementary school -- my brother certainly grew up with me and Diana listening to these songs when he was probably way too young to be listening to this sort of music. But I was nearly in high school when I started paying attention to pop music culture. After that, I did a stint with Japanese music, then indie music and now it's mostly Top 40s and Glee... Somehow, it feels like my music choices have never really changed...

Ugh, I feel so full right now. I had a slice of cold veggie pizza which was awesome but then I wanted something sweet so I had a bunch of zante currants and now I think I had too much. :(

Oh hey, BBMak's I'm Not in Love! LOL, the song really isn't all that great...but somehow I managed to write a song fic based on it. So sue me, I was young...Nowadays, I can't even read a song fic anymore which does make reading Glee fics kinda hard since it seems like people take the show as giving them permission to do song fics. Seriously, song fics should never be acceptable. Take it from me, a reformed song fic writer.
