I finally got through Gossip Girl. I ran out of steam after the mess that happened in the middle of the third season so even though I ran through the first half of the series in less than a week. I was doing nothing but Gossip Girl, I barely even slept, it was awful and wonderful at the same time.

This is such a guilty pleasure. It's such a loaded and fast show... Arcs are tiny and people switch partners and lovers like they're changing clothes. But despite it all, I found it fascinating. But I suspect that had there not been the relationship between Chuck and Blair, I would have lowest steam a lot more quickly. As much as I think Dan and Serena belong together (yay for that ending!), they weren't as interesting as Chuck and Blair. I've watched and rewatched so many of their milestones, so many of their greatest moments as a couple and not... And they're all set to wonderful music. That's another thing I love about Gossip Girl -- wonderful music, a lot that didn't know existed and some that I was surprised to see in the show because I thought they were indie songs that I didn't know other people knew about. I now have a Gossip Girl Chuck/Blair playlist that fills me with the same amount of joy and devastation that I felt when I first watched those scenes and heard those songs as a backdrop to them.

Overall, I wish season 6 had been a full season but for what it did do, it was pretty damn good. It was rushed but at least it ended with Chuck and Blair married. I'm pretty sure they still had a lot of growing to do because what had stopped them before from getting back together and what broke them up still applies... But apparently in five years, they would have worked it out so yay for that? And yay for Henry! Cutest baby Bass ever! And Dan and Serena got back together, that's good too. I always liked them as a couple... I am depressed that Nate seems to be alone (I guess Sage didn't work out?) but I never really liked his past girlfriends. Well, I did enjoy Bri (Bree?) Buckley and it would have been ironic -- Republican/Democrat super couple from powerful political families... And that Lily ended up with William? Yuck. I really think that had they been given more time (the other half of season six), they would have worked it out eventually. But I guess not... And I guess since they ended with Dan and Serena getting together, they couldn't have their parents together as well... I got over my step-sibling couple squick pretty quickly... It wasn't like they were raised together or share blood (even if they do share a half-sibling).

Overall, I liked the ending and I'm sad it ended. But had it not ended, it would never have popped up on my radar and I never would have watched it.

And it reminded me how much I miss long haired Nate, short haired Dan, and just younger Chuck who wore more than suits. I shall have to rewatch it from the beginning even though it hasn't been very long since I started watching it. It's been a bit of a wild ride, but I'm going to be glad when I get my free time back -- and just in time now that shows are coming back from their winter hiatus...
