It arrived!

I didn't think it would arrive today but it did! My 5566 CD+VCD! Right now I'm feeling kinda stupid for not getting the DVD version because while I do know how to rip a DVD, I have no idea about a VCD! Plus, I'm betting the quality on the DVD would have been better as well... It really was only a dollar more so I should have just said screw it and bought that version instead.
But it doesn't matter all that much now. I mean I had wanted the songs most of all so that's the good thing. It really is a good album! And really, 同一個世界 is a wonderful song! The MV for it is like OMG, it's so good! And of course, I've already fangirled over the signing in the 好久不見 MV. Watching it again, it really was wonderful! Right now I'm trying to get through all the songs because I hadn't had a chance to listen to them all yet.
But what I've heard, they're all wonderful!!! Well, I'm not all too fond of 偷心Yes I love You or 寶貝快睡 all that much (the latter song because the MV totally soured it all for me with all the slowness and the babies... *makes a face* Not all too fond of children...) but there are a few gems that I hadn't heard before like 世界最美的風景 and 回到我身邊-山塔露琪亞...
Now for Diana, because I know she likes 5566 too! The ripped 好久不見 album in 320 kbps!

The tracklist is as follows:
01. 好久不見 (Long Time No See)
02. 偷心Yes I love You
03. Crying in the Rain
04. 回到我身邊-山塔露琪亞 (Please Come Back, Santa Lucia)
05. 一起冒險 (Adventure)
06. 同一個世界 (One World, One Dream)
07. 白色花漾 (White Floweriness)
08. 追趕跑跳碰 (Chasing, Rushing, Running, Jumping, Crashing)
09. 世界最美的風景 (The World's Most Beautiful View)
10. 寶貝快睡 (Sleep Well, My Baby)
I wil try to figure out a way to rip the MVs because they are just way too cool (with the exception of 寶貝快睡 because that's just basically babies and 5566).
The 同一個世界 is really weird. But at the very same time, very cool. I swear, it's like partly an advertisement for the Summer Olympics (the Olympic rings, the parallel bars, hurdles and other track and field activities all featured in the MV). The other MVs were of 好久不見 and Crying in the Rain. The Crying in the Rain MV -- my god, if that doesn't just make you love Tony so much more!!! They all do pain so well, but when Tony falls to his knees with his head bent -- KYA!!! Such a fangirly moment for me! I am seriously adoring this album and it's MVs. It just makes you love 5566 so much more!
Right now I just want to go back and rewatch My MVP Valentine again and see all the great Prince moments. I swear, that drama totally made me love Tony and 5566 and now I can't get them out of my head. They're all so wonderful. And with Zax, how could you forget his wonderful voice! My god, that boy has talent! I would listen to him sing forever! And with Tony's voice, I think they have the perfect balance!
What I love most about this album is the way they've incorporated different sounds form around the world. 好久不見 has a definite Irish sound to it, while 同一個世界 and 白色花漾 have some traditional Chinese sounds to them. Crying in the Rain is actually a cover of an A-ha song, while 回到我身邊-山塔露琪亞 samples an opera (I feel like I should recognize it because the tune is very familiar but I'm hopeless when it comes to stuff like that) and 一起冒險 has the sounds of Indian music. Not only that, but 追趕跑跳碰 has the sounds of old American swing music! It's really a nice mix of a sounds for this new album and I'm actually happy to see that it worked in the end. :)
Okay, right now I have to go and write my monologue for Japanese... :\ I don't want to do it at all but unfortunately, I promised Park-san (it's really sad because I really don't know her first name because all we've ever all called each other is by our last names in class) that I would so I have to. And tomorrow is the last soup kitchen -- of which I'm infinitely glad to be finished of.
I don't think anyone's gonna go but me, so it'll be a bit sad... :( But it's over and I won't have to do it ever again because there's no way in hell I'm going to run for this position again! Waking up so early on a Sunday -- what was I thinking??? I'm just glad that it's over. :)
edit x1: Diana-chan is hiding from me... I tried calling her but I got forwarded immediately to the voice messaging center...twice, which means she saw that it was me calling and immediately click "ignore."
T_T
Diana-chan doesn't want to talk to me...? :(
edit x2: I'm such an idiot!!! The name of the opera that actually wasn't really an opera but just a song in Italian, and apparently a very famous Italian song at that, was "Santa Lucia" which was in the name of the track! *head hits desk* I'm an idiot, an absolutely idiot! Anyway, yeah, the song they sampled in track 4 was "Santa Lucia."

on 2006-04-09 02:04 am (UTC)Do you have any idea how to change the file names when the file's "Read Only"? I'm obsessive compulsive and the Chinese characters come up as ???? on Winamp and I want to change it to Pinyin but it won't let me. DX

on 2006-04-09 02:09 am (UTC)Are you possibly talking about the tags? Because you could use WMP to change them if that's what you want to change.
no subject
on 2006-04-09 02:13 am (UTC)How do you uncheck the "Read Only" box? Where would it be? *is computer illiterate*
And what's WMP? I was trying to change the tags, and that's why I was getting frustrated. It won't let me change the tags.
Sorry about bothering you with this. I don't know who else to ask. -_-;;

on 2006-04-09 02:22 am (UTC)However, as I suspect this is not really the issue, I think you need to go into the tags to change the track names right? I don't use Winamp so I can't give you any instructions using it but you should be able to use Windows Media Player (WMP) easily enough to change the track names and they'll change accordingly next time you go play it in Winamp. Do you have WMP 10? I think version 9 is also the same. Anyway, you need to open the file in WMP, then right click the track in WMP and go down to "Advanced Tag Editor". There you can change the tags. Save them and then open them again in Winamp and see if that doesn't do the trick.

on 2006-04-09 02:42 am (UTC)Thanks to Stacy I've finally gotten back into Chinese music. My parents played some really crappy songs during the late 90's and turn of the century, and the lyrics were so plain, banal, and the music so incredibly...simple that I was quickly disillusioned. I kept to the old Chinese songs of the 70's and 80's but those are on tape.
I have very few Asian friends, and since my American ones were all anime fans I listened to Jpop instead. Asian people don't like me. T_T Haha, but then, I don't like them very much either. We spin in different worlds.
no subject
on 2006-04-09 02:52 am (UTC)And I've always had a slight interest in Chinese music... Being Chinese myself, it's kinda hard to totally escape it. But I'm Cantonese so the majority of the songs I listened to growing up are Cantonese... But now that I'm in college, I find that I like listening to Mandarin music more... ^^;;; It's really a prettier language! But I do listen to a lot of Jpop (way more than Chinese music) but I have a tidy little collection of Chinese songs as well. They're all kinda scaty because I like so few artists to actually collect albums (aside from Jay Chou and 5566 and Ou De Yang) but I most download stuff I've heard before and have taken a liking too...
I have very little Asian friends too... It makes my parents sad but I've never fit into any of the Chinese (or the corresponding Korean, Vietamese or anything else Asian) cliches so it's hard finding Chinese friends... :(
If you ever want some Cpop, I can send you a couple of songs that I've liked. :)

on 2006-04-09 03:08 am (UTC)Not that I dislike pretty shirts (I was swooning in Forever 21 just the other day), but there's more to life than clothing (and homework for that matter. I rarely talk about my homework). I'm also extremely interested in different cultures, so my friends and I often do impromptu comparative culture discussions. And I love to tell stories. I entertain my friends with old Chinese tales.
But it's the love of learning that I can't seem to see in a lot of other Asians, and Asian guys can be so condescending...in a nice way, but still extremely condescending. Like I'm a little fool, or an idiot, or helpless and need special attention simply because I'm female. A good example was when I was playing go, and made a mistake. Normally you don't take moves back, but the guy I was playing told me I could. That insulted me a lot. I flat out told him that I wasn't about to take back moves because I'm playing seriously and you don't learn that way.
Now I'm all over the board. I've been using Baidu.com, but half the links are broken and I've been yelling at my computer screen because of it. XD They surprisingly don't have a great deal of FIR either.
If you have that group I'd love it if you could upload some of theirs. Right now I only have a couple and Stacy's lost all of hers somewhere in her ipod (codenamed Jesus).
I have:
Flying Away
I Want to Fly
Lydia
Neverland
Our Love
Qian Nian Zhi Lian
Aside from Lydia the rest were pretranslated. -_-;;;
If not, upload the songs you like. I've grown fond of 5566...I love mixing ethnic music with modern beats.

on 2006-04-09 03:21 am (UTC)I guess I fall into the group of "Chinese people who only have homework to talk about." ^^;;;
I really don't have much experience with Asian guys (like none outside of classes) so I don't really know what you're talking about... I talk about politics and stuff with my roommate (she's Shanghainese) but that's about it... We get into heated discussions about the future of China because she's moved here when she started high school and I was born here so we have two completely different backgrounds to draw upon.
I don't really have that many F.I.R. songs at all... Aside from some of the ones you've mentioned, I have only Wu Xia. :\
Do you have many 5566 songs? I have their other two albums but Long Time No See was actually the first where I've heard them mixing different sounds. I'll get together some songs and send them your way. Hopefully you don't have all of them...

on 2006-04-09 03:27 am (UTC)Wu Xia would be nice. One more is good enough.
My brother normally falls under the "homework" group too, but when he comes home the two of us will talk late into the night about physics, philosophy, and what we just watched on the Discovery Channel/History Channel.
We just gravitate toward the academics. That's why I'm going to be a teacher. Kenny's 5 and he's gravitating toward learning too. When he was 3 he dragged a children's encyclopedia around and had me explain passages from it (he could read it, but antibodies went over his head a bit ^^;;) and some words and concepts like the electron transport chain in photosynthesis is just really difficult to explain to kids.
Must be genes.

The 5566 (I think they're called Double Five Double Six normally) songs are basically all the individual tracks all together. There was a lot of overlap with the songs in between the albums so I basically cropped out the ones that were doubled and gave you all the individual songs.
I do the same with my sister and talk about random stuff every so often. It's always fun to have times like that with your siblings. :)
The electron transport chain isn't just in photosynthesis... And having just been tested on it, I can tell you that it's just a bit difficult to explain to college students as well.
