It's a fence!

Our neighbors have erected a fence. Again, the feeling that they hate us is resurfacing. I know we haven't been the most friendliest in the way we haven't really reach out but it's not like we've been unfriendly either. Plus, half the time, we're not even at the house and really, it's only me and Diana who are camping out here. We haven't officially moved in so I don't think our neighborly relationship could be considered as having started yet.
But whatever, a fence is their business. They probably should have contacted my parents about it a bit, or at least had let them know about it. It's not as if they really need their permission but a heads up would have been nice and I would think common courtesy as well.
But now we have a fence. It's really their fence but it works for us to. But even with it, I'm still totally able to look over into their yard from my window. And sound will still travel so it's not like it'll be able to block out their screaming kids when they're playing the year. Personally, I dislike the idea of a fence, if only for the message it sends out. But like my mother said, people like privacy and all that. Whatever. And hey, at least now when we do our random 3 AM roaming in our yard, it won't exactly freak them out any more. ^^
Today was hot. We didn't get past 100 F but it was pretty close. And tomorrow is supposed to be 103 and it's only supposed to get even hotter from today on. That makes me very sad. I know the rest of the U.S has been under some pretty intense heat while we were pretty cool here in Oregon but it seems as if it's our turn to get hot. I just want to tough these couple of days out and then be rid of them. Thank god for air condition. I do feel bad for the people back in New York... Aren't they bracing for a tropical storm or something nasty like that? Poor Xiao...
Well, enough of that. Today was an interesting day. We went and replaced the water filter in our refrigerator for the first time. It was absolute hell getting the old one out though -- it refuse to budge even though the instructions said to "simply turn it a quarter to the left." Believe me, there was nothing simple about it. After I, my dad and my brother all tried our hands at it and after a combined effort by my brother and dad, it still wouldn't move. Then somehow my father got it to turn and after that it was smooth sailing. I think our water dispenser is a bit broken now, or maybe that's just how it is when the filter is just replaced. Either way, it's refused to stop running even though it's not in use.
After the filter fiasco, my sister and I made California rolls for the first time. They were not bad surprisingly. I've never been the biggest fan of the California roll (it has always seemed like fake sushi to me) but I think I'm really starting to like them. They didn't turn out the best but it was our first time rolling sushi so we're not all that proficient. Also, I kinda suck at cooking rice so that didn't help either... But we did get the vinegar to rice ratio right so at least it tasted like sushi rice. I was so tempted to make onigiri today but I ran out of rice. :( No more curry rice for a while -- well, actually until Saturday when we can get out to Portland to the Asian markets to buy some more rice. It's a good thing we go out to Portland like twice a week with one of those times guaranteed to hit an Asian market (we can't live without our Chinese veggies and fishies).
God, thinking about all this food makes me hungry... I wish I had saved some California rolls for a late night snack...
Despite the rolls not being as great as they should be (second time will be the charm!), I was still really pleased at it all. It tasted mostly right and they were mostly okay. Plus, it was a lot of fun so I want to try it again someday soon. When we get more rice that is.
And to follow it up, Endless Shock part 2 finished!!! After days of the slowest, most tepid speeds and a good amount of worry that it might never finish, it finally finished downloading tonight. That means I know have all three parts of this. I will burn it onto a DVD and send it along its merry way to
hybrid_incubi probably on Monday. But I kinda need the address as to where to send it so Stevie, could you email me your address (and name since I don't think I know your last name)? You can get my email on my LJ profile. :)
Oh, and last thing to be happy about? A nice little archive of Johnny media. I found
some nice Tackey & Tsubasa and some Kanjani8 PVs that I hadn't gotten before so I'm all sparkly right now because I'm all happy about getting new stuff. I love stuff like this. ^^
Ah, I'm feeling good, things are lining up rather nicely in my life right now and I'm all mellow. Let's see how long this feeling of contentment (which is rather rare in my life as it is) lasts. Hopefully it evaporate when the heat threatens to kill me this weekend.
I think, I'm going to upload some songs up. There were two requests that I hadn't gotten around to fulfilling so I might as well do it now. :)

on 2006-07-21 01:51 pm (UTC)Though my mom actually has good relationships with our neighbors ~ all the little kids come over to our house for candy (and yet, as my mother herself pointed out, she never gave us candy as children ^^;;;).
