Songs! And the Day in Brief...

So I saw the PV for gYm's Fever to Future yesterday... Someone uploaded it a community I was on and since I thought I saw Yamapi's picture in one of the screen captures, I was immediately interested. I don't particularly follow any of the Johnny's comings or going so a new group that I hadn't heard of is more than likely in most cases.
Anyway, the PV was okay... Fever to Future is a catchy song with a great intro. It feels like the intro to a drama or anime. I have no idea if it is, but it would work pretty well in that respect. I don't particularly like the chorus though... I think it's a waste of a such a great opening. Usually it's the repeating chorus that draws the listener's attention and make them memorize the song. In this, I keep hearing the powerful backing track. And Yamapi's voice. Who can ignore Yamapi's voice? I don't particularly like him in this PV though. He doesn't seem as happy or full of life as I am used to seeing him. His face is all angles and usually it's softened but it's a bit more apparent in this PV and I wonder if he's feeling okay or not...
That being said, I still went and downloaded the single. I collect like crazy so how could I not? And I'm glad I did because otherwise I would not have been able to hear Run for Your Love which I think sounds like a good old fashioned boyband type of song that's just a bit corny, sweet and cute. And yet I adore it. It's entirely in English but despite that, it doesn't detract to the song. I just think it's incredibly sweet. I have no idea who's singing in it, if it's one person or more than that, but it's a nice little song so I thought I'll share.

Diana-chan, download! Despite the Ellegarden songs not being your thing, I think this one would be so I hope you'll try it out. I mean it's Johnny's! And it's sweet! And not headbangy at all! If you don't download, expect me to call you and bug you until you do. ^^
The other song I have to share today is one by Wang Rong. I had never head of her before downloading her song but apparently she's been out for a bit already. This song, "Ah Yah" is off her second album and is a cute, fun little song in Mandarin. I usually don't do female artists as my dislike of girl performers is rather high but she's rather cute. The song is upbeat with lots of Ah Yah's and is just a nice song to listen to.

Anyway, today was a marathon day of four class in a row with no break in between. What made it worse? My legs are sore as hell and I couldn't walk all too well. And I was in my new shoes and I couldn't help but wonder if the way I was walking was causing blisters or not... Now that I'm back to the dorm and have them off, I can see that even though it had felt like it was blistering, it had in fact not been. I'm so happy that I won't have to deal with nasty little blisters... I always hate it when that happens with new shoes before you break them in.
Anyway, first class was Physics and I had Professor Burton who is...funny? A bit scatter-brained? Tends to go off? He does talk a lot about real life (he used Star Wars today to illustrate his points) and today he was talking about how on Voyager we had sent a plaque of a human male and female and how aliens are probably going to find us ugly with our appendages coming out everywhere. He told a joke about how a sphere was absolutely the perfect shape and that somewhere out there was probably these spherical aliens. One spherical alien would say to another, "You look really perfect today" with the other answering "Thank you, you're perfect too." The whole class literally cracked up. It was fun. But damn that class goes fast... And there are a ton of practice problems... Already for next class I have to read a whole chapter (probably another to get ahead), do 10+ problems for the first chapter and the other 10+ problems for the next... o.O
Next class was Comparative Politics which seems to be a class based on political themes and ideas. It's not a class on countries per se... At least that's what Professor Wantchekon says. I can already see it's going to be a problem. He's very passionate and he wants us to learn for fun and not care about grades and all that. Yeah, right. I'm glad he's all up for it but I'm really just trying to fulfill a requirement here. There's a good amount of reading for that class as well... It bothers me that all my reading intensive classes are all on the same day... It'll be problematic. The other thing that I find annoying about this class is the fact that I can't particularly understand my professor. He has some sort of accent... He didn't say where he was from but I'm guessing somewhere in Africa... What I do know is that he has a Ph.D in Economics from Northwestern, but decided to switch to Politics because he was a political activist while at school. And since then, he's taught Politics, first at Yale for a number of years before coming here...
And apparently there are books for this course. Two of them in fact. And thus, the cost of my books for this semester will top $500. Yay. The best thing about it? We have reading to do for next week but it'll be at least a week before those two books will be in stock in the bookstore. I'm guessing someone messed up the order form...
Genetics...A bit boring for now but that's because we were covering stuff we've already covered before from MolecCell and Gen Bio. It was really an introduction to what we will be doing so I'm guessing it'll go from there but I nearly fell asleep during her class. Not a great way to start off.
I had Japanese today and it was Matsushima-sensei from last semester! Yay! I really like her so much more than Hanawa-sensei. She's so chill and nice and she gives you time to complete the assignment before gathering the class to do them together. Hanawa just points to you and say GO! And Hanawa doesn't actually go in a particular order so you never know what question you're going to get... She makes me go into a panic attack whenever I'm in her class... Tomorrow is Hanawa again so I'll have to prep a lot for tomorrow... Vocab. especially... I forgot so much in the Foods chapter like "sour" or "spicy" or "to walk"... -_-" I can't be caught unawares again or else she'll get scary... ><
Tomorrow, one class. And no classes on Friday! ^^ I technically have a recitation scheduled for Friday morning but no recitations this week for me! ^^ I will use the time to sleep and to read. Lots of reading unfortunately... :(

on 2006-09-07 12:22 am (UTC)I just started watching nobuta wo produce today, it's my first drama that I'm going to complete (although I started Princess Princess D, and it's only up to episode 3. I just love Kenta Kamakuri to death O.o). Just thought I'd tell you. I LIKE DRAMA WAY MORE THAN ANIME.
Glad Japanese is going well for you. I'll remember that when I take it, not to take Hanawa-sensei. :D
Also... THERE ARE TOO MANY FRESHMEN EATING UP SILVER CENTER> WTF

on 2006-09-07 12:32 am (UTC)Nobuta wo Produce is okay... And Princess Princess D is just embarrassing... I only watched it because of all the Tenimyu people and I couldn't take more than two episodes.
You lke drama more than anime? Another convert? Personally, I like select drama but I've watch a good amount of drama... Try Gokusen and GTO if you have the chance. They're definitely good ones.
And lol, you were once a freshman too!
It's hard not to get Hanawa-sensei actually. She's teaching all of the second year and third year Japanese... :\ It makes me wonder if it's only Nonoka who's doing first year...

on 2006-09-07 03:16 pm (UTC)I saw the first episode yesterday, and I'm pretty excited about it. It's definately way better than Princess Princess D. That is actually really embarassing. Nice word to describe it. All the men wear lip gloss and crap. It's.... way too... I just feel embarassed watching it. But, with that said, I'm not going to stop watching it. And yeah, that's how I got into it. Kenta played someone.. somewhere for the PoT musicals, it's how I first saw his face. He was probably desperate for work, so he took this drama. I hope so, because he's a good actor!
I was NEVARRRRR A FRESHMAN! HUSH! lol. actually... they just let too many in this year. The enrollment went up 6-7% or something like that, I heard. Which is like... 2000 when you compare it to the average enrollment. That's a LOT of people. Silver center is impossible to get into!!! The line for cantor goes all the way out to weinstein.
Next semester I'm going to take elementary japanese I. I won't be able to graduate in advanced II, but i want to start a formal approach to it, rather than this self-taught method.

on 2006-09-07 03:29 pm (UTC)I only have one class in Silver and none in Cantor so I haven't seen much of it... I'm also not there during the peak hours so it helps things a bit. I haven't encountered any lines yet...
Elementary Japanese I is good. Try to avoid Hanawa-sensei but I think it's kinda hard to do that...
