It wasn't good. It wasn't good at all! I am so distraught over this that I don't know what to do. I didn't know the vocabulary. I fucked up on my verbs. I conjugated my "you," "sou," "rashi" wrong. The more I think about it, the more I think about what I did wrong and the more I identify how much I did wrong. I try to tell myself to put it aside, to not think about it and to focus on other stuff but I just can't seem to get my mind off it. Hopefully everyone else did craptastically like me and there is a huge curve and I can somehow manage a B in that class. I really don't want a B but the way it's going, I think I'll be lucky for it. And I studied for it too! I think I studied way too much for things that I shouldn't have. Instead of focusing on chapters 1-3, I should have just studied the vocabulary for chapter four since that's where it really was all about. Damn it. I hate this.
But the dinner after the exam was good! Trang-san and Heiman-san couldn't make it so it was only the four of us... Um, let me think. Trang-san's name is Laura and Heiman's name is Zach, I think... :\ We always call everyone by their last names so that's really all I know them as.
We met up at Starbucks and went to Menkui-tei over 3rd Avenue and...fifth? Well, it's just off of Saint Mark's and it's like a ramen type of restaurant. Kondo-san (Jason), told us that it's what the Japanese people would consider "chuka." I had the Menkui Ramen that was roast pork, scallions and Bamboo shoots and it was pretty good. A little heavy on the salt but it was not bad at all. I think I might shoot over there for lunch or something along those lines later. Me and Lin-san (Sherry, first time I've ever met anyone named Sherry spelled the same way as me) shared an order of gyoza, of which I'm still tasting in my mouth. It was made with chives so it's strongly flavored but they were pretty good. And since I positively adore chives, I totally loved it.
We talked about hating Japanese, of being wrong in Japanese, of how much we hated the teachers... We talked about our lives, our likes, about music and J-dramas and how much I love guys and I enlightened them about the different types of Johnny groups. It was fun and I wish we were all going to be in the same section next semester but we aren't... :( Jason, Sherry and I are all in the same section -- 11 to 12:15 Mondays through Thursday... Erika is in the earlier section and Quiones-san (Norma) is dropping the course because she hates Japanese now. :\ It'll be sad but Sherry and Jason are cool so it should be okay. It'll be weird being in a large class though after being in the "small" section the last two semesters. We had five people last semester and this semester, seven. It was cosy.
Anyway, I do want to go there again. Apparently they have this special where you can get a small curry rice for an additional $3 and that would be pretty cool I think. And I want to try their deep-fried octopus. No one wanted to share it so I decided against getting it.
And speaking of curry, I made some beef curry last night and am desperately fighting myself not to eat it. I'm kinda hungry, kinda not, but I ate like seven hours ago because we met up around four-ish for that very early dinner... :\ I don't know. I may decide to toss some noodles in some boiling water and heat up some curry later on.
I really need to study for Physics... I need to go into campus to get stuff printed off, need to study for Politics... Genetics would be easy since it's based off our old exams and I have all the answers but Physics need time and I need time to study it. And Politics will not be easy. :\
Okay, all this talking of food has got me hungry now... Maybe I will make something to eat...

on 2006-12-14 04:59 pm (UTC)It's doubtful Hanawa will get replaced. She's like the head of the East Asian Studies Department and it seems like she's getting more and more involved with the language classes as time goes on... I wish she would leave too because apparently Nonaka is much nicer than her.
